I would like to invest around $50k in the share market for about 3-4 months, looking to buy/sell is there any shares people recommend to buy for short terms and if so how do you find up and coming/volatile shares?

thank!

If you looking to invest just for 3/4 months, my suggestions would be invest in a term deposit not in stock market.

TheUnknown,

It is not permitted for those here at ASF to recommend stocks for you to buy. ASIC considers this to be the provision of unlicensed financial advice, which is illegal.

I recommend that you either do your own research or consult a licensed financial adviser.

You can find out more about getting financial advice here: https://www.moneysmart.gov.au/investing/financial-advice

As for doing your own research, there are thousands of forum threads here at ASF to explore and countless other websites rich in information and research.

Good luck!

I would ask that those responding to TheUnknown's request only respond to the second part where he asks how to identify "up and coming/volatile" shares. Posts that recommend particular stocks to buy will be removed from the thread.

Try searching this forum using the search words "Volatile" and/or "volatility". That would give you some reading to start off with. I did a quick search and the threads that popped have some interesting comments from respected/established posters. "Interesting" doesn't mean I agree with them or endorse their opinions. :)

Go to your local news-agency and get a copy of AFR Smart Investor magazine
they give you some ideas on where to start...

if you are a regular readers, every few months they publish a list of
stock that they filters for different scenario and you can make up your own decision then.

Or give them a call and ask them to arrange half price subscription which has been on offer recently.

A lot of the tip sheets offer a free subscription for a month or so.
They will harass you for a while by email to sign up, but they are probably a good way to get a bit of experience. Don't follow anyone too religiously, but mainly use them as an education.
There is a lot to learn on ASF, some very wise sharetraders on here.

I did search but all posts and threads are outdated ?

Some threads are updated more often than others, but make sure you are looking at the most recent post in each thread. Many threads were started eight or nine years ago but some of them have thousands of posts and some interesting discussion and analysis.

If you have a question or comment about a particular company, please post it in the thread on that stock and someone may post a response. You may also end up generating some useful discussion.
