Selling ideas?

I have come up with a few 'business' ideas - some are products, some are services, and some are purely just concepts yet to be made into reality.

I was wondering, is there a thing where I am able to 'sell' my ideas, without getting ripped off? Hypothetically, let's say I come up with the idea of coconut flavoured coca cola, and I take this to the Coca Cola Amatil. They tell me to p*ss off, then the next day they are selling coconut flavoured coke and making a fortune out of it - is there anything to prevent that from happening if I wanted to sell my ideas?

I remember there was a movie, can't remember the title, but it was based loosely on a true story of the guy who invented the intermittent windscreen wipers. He gave the idea to Ford, they told him they didn't like it, then did it themselves, and he spent the rest of his life fighting back for the recognition of inventing it.

Get yourself a patent attourney or join an inventors group. Inventors are very strange people by and large, but they will be able to tell you how to protect your IP.

Selling ideas works much better in the US, I've heard.

Tell me your idea and I will advise you on its merits and the proceedure involved in developing and marketing it.
Just add it to this thread, hopefully this will encourage other like minded entrepreneurials to add their ideas to the thread.
This would enable me to address all the issues at once, which in turn would save repetition and reduce my fees as they could be apportioned over all the ideas.
Well that just about covers it. LOL
I should have been a financial planner.:D

Simply walk around with a wad of Confidentialiy Agreements and have anyone you discuss the ideas with sign one.

Problem solved

I already did it several days ago, are you on a commission?:D
Probably not, but noirua, it really is becoming a bit annoying finding these behests on every thread. We are all aware, I'm sure, that voting is happening, and you have a dedicated thread to this effect. Not sure why you have to interrupt every other thread with additional messages.

Hi Julia, I know you are one of the most respected posters across the boards of ASF and I am indeed sorry if I have interrupted your posting. My most humble apologies - Noirua

PS: Look forward to any support you can give for getting posters out voting for ASF. Some people are very busy and only able to post occasionally and I don't want them to miss the chance if they never go the the 'General Chat' threads. I'm sure Joe Blow will look forward to support from a person such as yourself Julia - cheers

Noirua, sorry if I sounded cranky, but every thread I've accessed this evening has your same message on it. Just seems like overkill to me, and actually has made me feel like not voting.

I don't think there are too many people more ready to promote and defend ASF than I am, but I'm honestly not much of a fan of these contrived 'competitions' which can be utterly distorted by people just voting multiple times. I'd have a lot more respect for it if each person were only allowed one vote.

I have no idea how much weight is carried by whichever forum in terms of selling advertising for that forum, perhaps quite a bit.

However, I think the quality of most of the posting on this forum, plus the firm and reasonable moderation by Joe and his volunteers stands on its own.

+1
It makes me cranky too - especially when I know I have already voted and no second vote is accepted. (I thought deleting the cookie would allow me another go, but even that doesn't seem to work anymore.)
Don't know how hc can be so far ahead. Do they have that many more members than ASF? Or are their members more susceptible to that kind of thing? Been ages since I've looked in there...

Man oh man did this go off topic quickly :(

Inventing things has never been harder IMO. Patents cost an arm and a leg, and Apple has already patented anything which looks like a rectangle or has a digital circuit inside it :banghead:

I remember a zillion years ago when "glad wrap" came out. I was working with a mechanical engineer and we both agreed. Wouldn't it be great to come up with a plastic thing with a blade that would cut the glad wrap. Rather than having to tear it then unravel it. Well the rest is history, we were lazy and got what we deserved.:D

Anyone seen the movie Father of Inventions starring Kevin Spacey? He's a 'fabricator', which means he creates inventions by combining two existing products together.

That's kinda like along the lines I'm thinking - although I can think of ideas, a lot of them I have no chance of producing. But are my ideas worth anything to those who have the capacity to produce them?
