Hey guys,

recently changed professions and am now in the sales "Game", i wanted to get some advice on how best to approach potential investors... I'm working for an online trading provider, apart from creating good ties with recomendation services, trainers and even university lecturers what other avenues would you suggest to pull in people ?

the product we offer does not have:
- the best margins
- the best interest rate

it does however have:
- the best platform on the market

the only real selling point is our flexibility in terms of how we can offer better margins/interest depending on volume.

I dont know if im just being incredibly negative, not seeing the light at the end of the tunnel or am simply left in the corner to try and devise a way to takeover the game.

thoughts appreciated.

Hello Mark

Haven't your employers provided you with some sales training? Particularly some suggestions on how to counter the negatives of your product which for sure will be thrown at you by your potential customers.
Are you servicing existing clients or is it your responsibility to seek out increased market share? Do you have promotional aids, literature etc?
Are you expected to cold call potential clients? What do you know about how your opposition approach and/or service your potential customers?

You`ve got to turn their thinking around. Don`t rubbish the competitors though; this seems weak and desperate. Respect peoples commands but courtesy calls do help anwer questions people may have in the future.

Pick the positives like the platform, and flexibility; particularly if you can negotiate a package for them. You need to sell your service beyond all else. If your company doesn`t provide good service though, move on.
