Hello all,

Very new to this forum and trying my luck. I'm looking for some people to contribute their thoughts on gold investing for a research project.

I’m a mature-aged anthropology student at Melb Uni writing a thesis on gold and value in Australia. For my research, I’m chatting with people who interact with gold in different ways, like goldsmiths, geologists and investors.

I would love to speak to some investors about why they chose to include gold in their portfolio. Who’s up for a chat in the next few weeks? A conversation takes roughly 30-40 mins and can take whatever form works best. All participants are given full anonymity. My insights probably won’t be useful to investors, but more than happy to share the thesis once done.

Happy to send through more info.

Thanks!

NS

Perhaps also consider using written info in the gold threads as some posters have made their thoughts known for over 15 years.
There's some pretty interesting stuff - especially where disagreements crop up.
Otherwise, welcome and good luck.

Welcome to ASF, hope you get some information.
Maybe a good place to start would be to throw some questions on this thread, open air style, may draw out the pundits.
Cheers and good luck.

Hey! thanks for your response. I've been keeping my eye on the forums and there are some great convos happening. While I can't make direct use of them for research (issues of consent and all that) they have given me a lot of insight on the topic.

Hmmm ... is that what your supervisors advised (see 4.63 of link), given that this is a public posting website and provides verifiable views from people who may be willing to provide any consents sought?
Aside from that, I assume your personal interview questions would be consistent for everyone, so I wonder if it includes checking questions so you can tell if respondents are being honest about their investing record.

I'll check up on the ins and outs as it's worth looking into further. The interview format is one commonly used in anthropology and while the framework of questions are the same, the interviews are semi-structured and led by the participant, they are also done in good faith.
