How do you take a screen shot and then paste it to the pictures section in XP? I can take a screen shot but can't paste it anywhere but excel which is not where I want it to go. I would like to be able to upload it to forums or to a site etc.

Any ideas?

If you are taking a screenshot, you will need a graphics package to place it in to be able to crop it to something useful and then save it. You usually select new image from clipboard in the edit menu (or something like that).

Another alternative is to use a little free program called srip32, you just fire it up, choose what method you want to grab the image e.g. whole screen, selected window e.t.c. I just usually use the Grab Rectangular Area method and drag a marquee over what I want to grab. You then save the image as whatever you want and attach it to your post.

you can grab srip32 from here: http://www.esnips.com/doc/226effc2-20dd-4313-aca4-ba64528f9079/srip32

You should have MS Paint as one of your programs too.

Open up Paint and hit CTL V. Then save the doc as a Jpeg, or Giff or whatever.

Paint allows you to crop and do other stuff too.

Also, rather than recording the contents of your entire screen, try pressing ALT-printscreen which will only record the active window.
