Elizabeth Taylor died yesterday from congestive heart failure, aged 79, following illness over many years.
She was surely one of the most deserving of the description "Star", with her extraordinary beauty and considerable talent.
I'll never forget her performances in "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof", "Butterfield 8", and most of all "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf", where she was outstanding.
The 'stars' of today (in whom I have to admit little interest) can't hold a candle to Ms Taylor imo, whose fame was no doubt enhanced by her very public and very passionate private life.
