Hi All

I lost a cousin last weekend due to a road collision and just yesterday there was serious accident less than 1 km down the road from the Duckpond which claimed another life. Just tragic - I had the misfortune of seeing the mess and experiencing the awesome destruction that speed and metal impact can do.

Without preaching - just remember to slow down, keep alert and as my old driving instructor used to tell me............."You could do worse than to treat all other drivers on the road as bloody idiots."

Drive safely

I'm sorry for your loss Duckman.

My grandfather has a similar phrase to your old driving instructor. The only time I've been in an accident was when I forgot this piece of advice.

Keep safe people.

Absolutely, i was hit by a car as a youngster on the way to school. Never really thought about it, but i guess i am lucky to be alive. This was waaaaaay before the 40km/h speed zones around schools. No permanent damaged, just out cold for a few hours.
Strangely enough it was my kindergarden teacher that hit me, mum says there was some karma in there somewhere.......

Absolutely you should wear a helmet if you are on the pushy even if it's not yours.

Also, a backbrace.
Not to mention shin-pads and A grade cricket thigh pads.

If someone wants to kill you they will try.

The best thing to do is be yourself while you're wearing all this stuff.

If you survive an accident without these pre-cautionary safety mechanisms.

Well then you are lucky! ;)

Duckman, I'm really sorry to hear that, and thanks for the reminder.

Sadly, almost always when I see a speeding car it's being driven by a young P-Plater.

Thanks Julia. Yes the drivers of both vehicles in the accident near my corner were 20!!

Such a waste and what a hole it leaves for the family left behind.

Duckman - sorry to hear you have lost your cousin.

Thanks for sharing this, must not have been easy, & thanks also for the valuable reminder to drive safe.

I'm sorry to hear that too Duckman.

It is never easy to tell "people" to wear helmets.
Most have no idea what's up against them! Laws of physics and/or hatred.
