Im trialing Market Tools Prospectus which runs from realtime data sources,Bourse Data and the one I use Marketcast.

http://www.markettools.com.au/

So far Im impressed and after using the 30 day trial have paid for it 3 times already.
It DOES have high and low alert capabilities for multiple stocks and live charting for tick and any other timeframe you wish to choose.
Also a portfolio (limited) application.
Has about 100 indicators/ocsillators for those who love to buggerise around,3 types of live charting including point and figure and Candlesticks.
A swing trading feature and Kagi and Renko for the Price action freaks.

Here is a chart with some commentry Im trading today just to show some of the capability off.
If your trading short term seriously this sort of software is a must!!

Re: Realtime Software and tools for the serious short term trader.

Hi there tech ,thanx for bringing attention to Market tools ,im currently looking at getting a dedicated dynamic data and charting so good to c whats out there .

Just curious as to why you like this market tools over what you have been using ?

Also im after a scanner that only has to do 20 min snapshots but i want it to be able to scan 4 period cci crossing 0 line ,but am having trouble locating one for a resonable price or can even do it ,any thoughts.

tech how much $$ ?

Re: Realtime Software and tools for the serious short term trader.

Hi Tech, just curious, which stock is that ?

Stock is WMT.

Cost is $439 one off.

Its not a preference over the other software--I have-- its an addition which has features that my current software doesnt and in some cases enhanced features which Marketcast has.You can of course trade the SPI with it if you get a SPI feed from Bourse or Marketcast.
The live Feed From Bourse is cheaper I believe $110/mth.

In All seriousness these sorts of live data tools are worth the money very quickly.Your on the pulse.
The alert feature is in itself worth the $$s.
One trade and you can pay for all your live software.

Ive been told by the developer that the next version will have a systems test capacity---however from what I have seen and from questions I directed to him it will be very rudimentary.Unfortunately there are few serious systems testing software out there.

I have no affiliation.

Watch page in 2 screen shots as its to wide for 1

Note high and low limit ALERTS.

Plumb out of frequent flyer points.
Bobby its not the sort of thread for discussion really.

Might do some more short term outlier trade examples to prime up the natives again using this software to perhaps show its use. Its pretty nifty.
They seemed to spark a bit of interest.

Maybe its the cost of software plus live data?
OK then, for the less financial try this.

If you're with Commsec or Sanfords etc..
Download Quotetracker (it takes their data & converts to live).
then buy Fcharts Pro to link this to there scanning software, cost is under $150, then NO data costs per month!

I've not done it yet so don't ask me.

Tech is making bucks now , look hard at what he says :)

Bob.

Hi tech/a,
Really appreciate all your valuable postings in this thread as well as others. There's so much that we can learn from you.

Just some questions, if I may...
1) does MarketTools(MT) integrate with your online brokering service (btw, also curious who do you use :) )? Or, do you have to execute the orders separately?
I'm currently with Commsec, using their Professional/Platinum Trader, but the application interface is very clunky and slow, at times, unreliable.

2) The drawing tools you illustrated in your postings - are you able to save them in the charts on an ongoing basis, or, did you have to draw them and save them outside MT?

3) Is there anywhere to record trading notes?

4) Is there anything that you thought the program might do better in?

S'ppose I could have downloaded a trial copy and read up a bit more on the MT website... but just wondering what your opinions were... :p:

hope its of help to those in cyberspace I love success stories.

I'm with afull service broker. They are close to Online rates and I have someone to blame if they get it wrong. Keep all my trade logs etc. and we have a few laughs. So I hit the phone and watch the order executed while on the phone both in and out.

(2) The drawing tools you illustrated in your postings - are you able to save them in the charts on an ongoing basis, or, did you have to draw them and save them outside MT?

Yes you can and I do save them. You can save multiple timeframes of the same stock. There is a scrolling capability so quick switching to those charts on watch.

(3) Is there anywhere to record trading notes?

Its at the office so cant check but I'm sure I saw it as a capability.

(4) Is there anything that you thought the program might do better in?

Yes for me there are to many gadgets (Oscillators,Indicators) and there could be a capability to write script for Highest Highs,Highest highs for X periods ---that sort of stuff---pure charting. There is Fib and all the basics.

The portfolio manager could store closed trades---it doesnt. Ive chatted with the designer and there will be a systems capability soon. Unfortunately he has little experience in systems design so there will be important features lacking. An iterface with Tradesim would be amazing---or Amibroker!!.

S'ppose I could have downloaded a trial copy and read up a bit more on the MT website... but just wondering what your opinions were... :p:

I'm trialing it myself and will buy it---but if you dont have the live data then its not going to be able to show you its capability in realtime.
By the way I hear Bourse data is around $110 a month and Marketcast is $185/mth. Bourse is Broadband and Marketcast is SBS TV feed.

Which is what I prefer.

Ill let you know if I find anything else positive OR negative.
Ill ring the developer again and see how open he is to suggestive change.

There is a forum as well which I havent visited---another bloody forum ---Just what I need!!
