Let's get this out of the way immediately, I watched the show this week and the answer is no. OK, can we move on...

Last weekend NSW went on to daylight savings time, clocks turned forward by one hour. Sunday night at 9.30 I said to the 12-year old "time for bed". Braced myself for the nightly argument - but before 12-year-old could get a word in I gently explained that since we were now on daylight savings time it was actually later than the clock said (hehehehe) so 12-year old has actually been up an extra hour (hehehehe). Meek acceptance and off to bed!

OK, so I outwitted one 12-year old - but now the real challenge comes on April 6, 2008 when I use the same argument at 9.30pm that Sunday night (at least I will have the truth behind me then).

Now, this could turn into a nice evil thread outlining how to outwit your children...I encourage this, please post!

All through their formative years, our children were told that the ice cream van only plays music when it has run out of ice cream....

(and yes, they believed that for quite a long time...)

Starting Daylight Saving less than 2 months before the summer solstice (longest day)

But finishing Daylight Saving 3 and a half months after the summer solstice.

Hopefully you and the 12 year old are BOTH smarter than whoever came up with such a lopsided system.
