Hi, Just have a couple of questions re: Dividends:

- Anyway other then company announcements to obtain knowledge of an ex dividend date?

- How long do I have to keep my shares after the ex dividend date to be eligible for the dividend distribution? for example if I sell my shares a day after ex dividend date will I still receive the dividend?

Thanks.

1. nope.... if you found a way, it would probably be illegal or considered insider trading!

2. yep, you can sell straight away and still get the dividend.

Thank you for your help everyone, jono1887 you are correct - was seeing if I could determine dividended date before company announces on asx.

I am new to day trading and just trying to understand how exactly dividends work, thanks again.

The dividend record date is usually announced some time before it comes around. No advantage to be had.

If your focus is to receive the dividend, then you need to buy before it goes ex dividend. (Just in case you were suggesting it was the record date that was more important.)
