ProRealTime (via IG Markets) - Order Book problems

Hi.

I just started using ProRealTime through IG.

Everything's OK except the Order Book, which is supposed to display quantities (of bids and asks) - but it doesn't.

I phoned the help desk and we spent about an hour going through every possibility, but found nothing. They said they'd consult an engineer and call back, but they haven't.

I also e-mailed ProRealTime direct from the platform. A few hours later, I received an answer saying that the Order Book isn't meant to display that data!!! If this were true, the guy on the phone would have immediately explained that, and not wasted so much of his own time. But he was actually looking at his own version of the software and presumably could see the numbers there. (So, in other words, the e-mail reply meant "We have no idea what's going on and just couldn't be bothered".)

This is my very simple question (to anyone using ProRealTime via IG Markets):

In the Order Book, can you see the quantities (in the Sell and Buy columns and at Total Bid and Total Ask at the bottom of the chart)? (Or are the columns there just for decoration?) I just want confirmation of this.

Thanks.

I use IG but I am no long familiar with the names of their platform. What's ProRealTime (that used to be just the charting)?

May be take a screen shot and show us what you are staring at.

Also...

Try a different browser.

Thanks for your replies.

I was unable to launch ProRealTime this morning, so I've taken a screen shot of the order book from the user manual.

I've put red circles around the quantities of buys and sells, and also around the total bids and asks (at the bottom of the book). This is obviously how it should be.

But in my version (of ProRealTime), all those figures just show "0" (zero) in all markets.

To skyQuake: yes, that's exactly what I'm looking for. Which broker do you get your IRESS from?

How about on L2 (IG ) platform ?

Do you mean the Level 2 data feed? Yes, I subscribe to that (for both the ASX and NASDAQ).

Or is L2 something else?

I've finally managed to get ProRealTime going. This is a screen shot from my computer.

I am guessing that feature is disabled by IG. With FX, indices markets etc IG is the market maker and you are trading their CFDs so no volume data is made available.

I am surprised that the true depth isn't available on ASX stocks. But it is what it is I suppose!

to blue0810:

I've just had a look at the L2 platform user manual. Yes, it gives you all the (DMA) data that's missing from the ProRealTime order book.

to SKC:

I'm also surprised. And you're right, they've chosen to disable that feature. It seems to be a key feature that distinguishes the L2 from the ProRealTime platform.

This is how IG looks for me vs IRESS
iress vs ig.png
Basically the same. IG does not display Chi-X volumes/bids so it looks a bit thinner than regular @ ASX

And IG only has 5 levels which might not be enough for certain stocks.
