Hi All,
I am a total novice when it comes to the programing of Amibroker to do system tests etc. Does any one know of any one who teachs this sort of skill. I know I will pick it up but I need some basic instruction to get started. I am happy to pay for the service.

Regards

Have you tried Kaveman used to hang out at the Chartist?

Greetings --

I am the author of a book, "Quantitative Trading Systems," that many have found helpful. It focuses on trading system design, testing, and validation, and uses AmiBroker to illustrate the points. There is enough introductory AmiBroker material in it to allow even those without prior AmiBroker experience to use it.

Thanks,
Howard

I'm wanting to learn how to do my own coding and things for amibroker. For indicator customisation and testing.

Just wondering if your book is suitable to get me on my way. I'm pretty illiterate when it comes to computer language type stuff.

Or are there any publications that anyone knows of, specifically for learning amibroker code? I'm starting to make sense of the AFL, but it is taking a while.

Hi Chops --

While my book is intended to be about the design, testing, and validation of trading systems, I felt that showing actual code was a requirement. I chose AmiBroker because I felt it was the best trading systems development platform available to individuals. Each trading system component is discussed, and illustrated, and there is enough about AmiBroker to enable anyone, even someone who has not used AmiBroker before, to replicate what is in the book.

That said, in my opinion, no one will be able to design and trade any system that he or she is not completely comfortable with and confident in. There is no way that that will happen without that person being able to perform tests on the system and modify it as necessary. I believe it is absolutely necessary that to be a successful system developer, a person must be both a good programmer and a good statistician.

So --- pick your platform, then become a competent programmer in its language and a competent statistician in interpreting its results.

I am in the process of writing another book, this one entitled "Introduction to AmiBroker." It is still at least a couple of months from being available, but it might be the introduction you are looking for.

Thanks for listening,
Howard
