Dharma watches Bargain Hunt on the Lifestyle Channel. Its a Pommy antiques show.

All the presenters and contestants on this show seem to have the worst teeth I have ever seen anywhere in my travels.

Even the Khazacks have better teeth.

Is it just unique to Pommy antiques bargain hunters or do all pommies have bad teeth.

Maybe they eat too much sugary foods or can't afford dentists because they are a poor country. Even the posh ones look like horses.

gg, I just got a tweet from one of the trolleydollies who was trawling the forums and alerted me to your post.

She's a Valley girl as well and has often commented about the differences between the UK & US girls that she has noticed over her frequent layovers in various places over the years.

Here's a link from some time back, Professor Jimmy Steele reckons pommie girls like "nice natural smiles - natural in colour".
But I'm not sure if 'Craven A' is a colour.:

It's something I have come across many times before. I quite often hear Americans on TV shows comment on pommies teeth. I agree to a certain extent, even though we Irish are no better in that respect.

Being able to eat an apple through a chicken wire fence has to have it's advantages.
 
Well there's bad and then there is BAD!

Good teeth are nice but there is something off putting about people whose looks, including their teeth, look (and are) manufactured. A few dental imperfections is quite charming and doesn't detract at all IMO.

Of course it's all a question of degree.

I'm talking form, you're talking function.

In other words, teeth don't have to be dead straight or blindingly white.

But I think you knew what I meant.

There are plenty of poor Australians with rotten teeth.
The public dental scheme is a joke.
In most places the waiting time just for an examination is about six years.
 
I agree Julia. The public dental system is a disgrace and has been for 30 years. Public health is vitally important to the nation - preventative care helps stop bigger bills later on. Healthy people are more productive citizens. Australia's disadvantaged should be looked if we are a caring society.
 

I agree. Good teeth that have occurred naturally, or with the help of braces look great. You do get a lot of people in the US that get the works done on their teeth (like a whole new set that are extremely white) and they look 'too perfect', not natural - they almost look like cartoons IMO.
Though having 'too perfect' teeth is better than having dreadful rotting teeth.

I was in the UK a few weeks ago and i did notice that most pommys do have dreadful teeth.
 
If you drink the water in London you would understand! No flouride in water here and it is recycled water too - not too nice. No doubt it messes with the teeth.

I think the other point is that brits don't value the importance as much so don't bother with braces and proper care as children
