Food for thought indeed, Speewha.

The ABC audio link here http://www.abc.net.au/rn/bushtelegraph/index/audio.htm

I found the 'original' peak phosphorous report at http://energybulletin.net/node/33164 of which I copied a small part.

A pretty good read to illustrate the correlation betwen population, oil and phosphate fertiliser.

Population control here we come!

I'm pretty sure phosphorus is recycled much faster than oil is, so i don't think it's that big of a worry. You could probably find stacks of the stuff in graveyards with all the decomposed bodies (no offence)

Hello,
Whiskers thank you for the charts and posting the ABC link to my post.
I need to learn how to do that.

Let’s hope one or more of the current hopefuls in the phosphate area can get up and running.

Might be a sort term fix and give Australia some breathing space on what is shaping as a big problem on global terms

I don’t fancy my lettuce grown in human waste.

What....? So you'd prefer your lettuce grown in horse, sheep, cow manure?
Everything on this planet is recycled. The water that you drank yesterday was in someone's toilet bowl a few months ago. If human waste has enough nutrients to be used as a fertilizer then it should be used. It'd be a much better solution than pumping it out into the oceans.

Hello,
Saiter, I was just trying to add a touch of humour to a serious subject.

You are right in what you say
