Following KRudd's bailout of GMH, all eyes were turned expectantly to the big announcement of the New Super Fuel Efficient Four Cylinder Car That Will Help Save G.M.H. Australia.

OMG It is going to get an ubelievable 8.8 litres per 100km!! How fantastic! That's almost as good as my current 2.0Litre Mazda3 MaxxSport.

Oh. We need to bailout G.M.H. so in two years time they can make cars no more efficient than what is already out there today?

Huh? Please explain.

Isn't Holden bringing out a new special V8 next year? A V8 where you can choose how many cylinders you want to use?
I'd rather that than a constant 4 cylinder car.

I've always enjoyed Jeremy Clarkson's (Top Gear) reviews of the Monaro and the Vectra... even though he calls them a Vauxhall.

.

New motor vehicle sales fell for the fifth consecutive month in November, to their lowest level in more than five-and-a-half years, as the global economic downturn dampened consumer appetite for spending.

why keep propping up a failing company? how do we know that in 5yrs time the auto industry wont need another few billion dollars? would the money be better spent re-training those currently in the industry? (for different jobs, of which Aus has shortages)

Why bail out the auto industry when the industry is oversupplied as it is.

Because they have great lobbyists of course. There's already people making 'green' cars in their backyards. To make these cars isnt actually that hard and you definitely don't need that much money to do it. It's a disguised bailout plain and simple.

Too many votes involved to let these things fail.

I love VB, kangaroos, and Holden cars .... blah blah...

Stupid humans!

Actually, take the stupid part back. Just doing what we need to do to survive.....

There's obviously a reason for all these reactions, and not sure if it's pure stupidity.

Thats some sort of joke hey ? My V6 Mitsi 380 gets that on the highways !

Why cant Krudd insist on a electric hybrid ? Thats what ill get next,, be nice to get a local one ....

Spot on Aleckara!

There will still be Bathurst. But I can assure you they wont be going down Conrod in a putt-putt 4 cylinder environmentally friendly hybrid.

Only things that should come in 2 litres is Milk & Coke

The turbo datto I'm driving at the moment kills all the HSV's I've come across thus far...

And the other datto gets about 10.5-11L per 100k's.

How is this worthy of funding? Insane.

OMG!

The Chinese have been reading ASF posts! I'm gonna charge 'em royalties on my idea....

I thought this would be a mighty grand plan for the Yanks to adopt and said so in one of these here forums. Now the Chinese copy it! **HARUMPH**

Bruddy Protectionists!!

Hmmm ! I wonder if they target it towards locally manufactored Models ?

To be competitive other nations better start rolling ot their protectionist plans ...
