Well, well.

Telstra has been dumped from the bidding list due to what it perceives as "trivial" tendering non-compliance issues.

This certainly throws a few cats amongst the pigeons now. Apart from which Telstra's SP will likely plummet - after which they will spit the dummy and no doubt try to hold the other contenders "at ransom" with their monopoly to date on hardware and exchanges etc.

Next few months is going to be very interesting!

Yeah nice idea. Maybe we can get Allco and BNB to team up and build it.

Like it or not Telstra has to build it because if they don't they will build out over the top of it and we will end up with the same result we had when the cable got rolled out 10 years ago. Two half systems that doesn't make a whole.
 

when your competitors DSLAM's are all located in the building that you own, where the competition in that?

I wonder how many people followed Lil' Johnny's advice and bought up big in T2 & T3 for their retirement nest egg and what those people might be thinking right now?

Given this looks like Telstra is out of the race, will it affect Telstra dividends going forward?

Then there is the biggest Q of all. How the hell are the remaining proponents going to get their plans off the ground given the economic climate right now (I suspect Gummint handouts will be the only way forward?).

Perhaps a wild card question but is the government looking to back out of this alltogether given the substantial change in the economic/budget position over the past six months and the expectations of what's to come?

Unfortunately a lot of people bought Telstra. Even Citigroup say a lot of people invested in Telstra because it was a perceived safe haven. All it's been safe from has been rising share prices.

Just shows how much Johnny stuffed up on this little deal. Not that he's complaining on his lifetime pension.
 

No problemo! Telstra now whingeing about claiming $80Billion in compo from the dastardly GuvMint! LOL.

Imagine the dividends they could pay shareholders with THAT!

Or maybe the $80Billion would just be funding for the execs to buy a tropical island paradise to escape to? Fiji?
