Metastock data reading problem

Hi,
I have metastock on windows 10 with data from an external provider and it works fine.
I now have a new computer - still windows 10 - and the data comes down on the new computer via the data program but Metastock won't read it. The data only shows up in Metastock as "dat" files not as the company name.

Has anyone had this problem?

When are in the "Open" window, make sure the "Files of type" is set to "Smart Charts".

Thank you for your reply.
After much angst I discovered that I had accidentally installed my old Metastock version 7 and it wouldn't read my Metastock version 10 data.

Then I discovered Metastock has discontinued giving licences for version 10 so even though I bought it outright I have to upgrade to the latest version and pay a yearly fee (only $10 but still annoying) to use my own data.
