May I ask all workers and families to celebrate May Day, as it should be from our Northern Hemisphere forebears, an entry in to Spring.

In our culture it is an entry in to Autumn with a release from our continents's heat.

The Left have abrogated this precious day in to their exclusive canon, whereby only Union dilettantes such as Thomson and Williamson can celebrate under banners by walking distinct from their usual mode of transport, Union and Comcars.

It is a day of celebration and should not be taken over by Union and ALP hacks.

The workers united will never be defeated!!

We must take a stand against Abbott and the re-introduction of Work Choices comrades!

May day celebrates the 40 hour week. A great victory for the ordinary person.

8 hours for work
8 hours for recreation
8 hours for sleep.

Sorry mates, May Day predates all this Union organiser claptrap.

It is a celebration, not an accusation.

'Fraid you're wrong Knobby. People were dancing round maypoles long before 40 hour weeks were heard of.

By many centuries!!

My main reason for starting this thread are memories of ALP Members of Parliament and Union Leaders marching with the workers and then retiring to their Range Rovers and Volvos to go home to their upmarket houses in suburbs of advantage.

The poor bloody workers still got worked over.

So it is time to put an end to all this nonsense.

Let us celebrate May Day without the Thomsons and Williamsons of this world, as a glorious day when we enter Autumn.

In the Gaelic calendar May is the first month of summer.

It will be interesting to see how many of the poor badly done by HSU workers will muster with the ALP aristocracy to celebrate May Day.

Is the hijacking of May Day by the union movement akin to the hijacking of the opening of the ski season to celebrate Lizzie's birthday a couple of months late?

I go back to those days. It was

8 hours work
8 hours play
8 hours sleep
and 8 bob a day.

Ho hum another conservative attack effort at hijacking what is recognized world wide as a day for workers to celibate gains made and the challenges remaining for the majority of humans world wide whether unionized or other.

Personally I be celebrating in true pagan style in the traditional sense dancing around naked hugging trees asking the great spirits for a brain transplant for Abbott.

An event as unlikely as a credible Coalition election costings.

"celibate gains"????

You wouldn't have lasted five minutes with Stalin or Mao mate. They didn't like pagans either. Only the party pure were allowed prosper.

It has only been a workers day for less than 100 years, and the sooner it returns to a pagan festival the better.

And I doubt if any HSU workers marched today.

No. The poor sods would have too immersed in contemplating Craig Thomson's revels with prostitutes courtesy their hard earned union dues.

Ho hum another conservative attack ...

IFocus, you might need to find a new description for your name calling. It's no longer just conservatives who are .fed up with this brand of labor. With a primary vote of 27%, there would have to be a lot of previous labor voters who might well be offended at your lumping them in with "conservatives"...lol
