Good afternoon everyone and welcome to the May 2023 stock tipping competition entry thread! :)

A quick recap of the rules for those not familiar with them:

1. Each entrant may choose one ASX listed stock. Options, warrants and deferred settlement shares are not permitted.

2. Stocks with a price of less than $0.01 are ineligible for the competition, as are stocks that are currently suspended from trading.

3. Either before or after posting your entry and before the deadline for entries you must post in the forum thread of the stock you have entered providing either a general update or a view on why you think the share price is going to increase in the short term.

4. The winner is the entrant whose selected stock performs the best in percentage terms between the close of trading on 28 April (entry price) and the close of trading on 31 May.

5. The maximum number of entrants in the competition is 100.

The entry price for all entries is the closing price on the last trading day of this month.

The competition winner will receive $100. The second placegetter will win $50 and the third placegetter $25.

You have until midnight on Sunday, 30 April to enter. However, in practice entries can be submitted until this thread is closed. No entries submitted after that can be accepted for any reason.

Please post your entries in this thread. Remember, once you have selected your stock, you CANNOT change it for any reason.

Best of luck to all entrants! :xyxthumbs

Well Mr Divs I could, BUT probably won't, nominate the penny dreadful that I have held for far too many years Hills Industries. It can't get much worse than it is now. ha ha ha?
that's right bring back the HIL memories ( i hold , sadly )

but for instance, i was kind of hoping to add some more NIC this month ( very unlikely , now )

but something in the $10 range can still win ( when a large number of shares tumble probably during a correction or retrace )

@Sdajii all the best for your persistency like King of Scotland Bruce learnt from the spider ??

The battle between the Kings of Scotland and England hundreds of years ago was almost as spectacular as my resolve in this situation. My six figure loss so far this year on AGY is somewhat painful (though I'm fairly glad to still have six figures' worth, especially considering my net worth was literally down to a few dollars and I didn't even own enough clothes and couldn't properly afford to put food in my mouth just three years ago), but I'm holding on the expectation that the expansion permit will be granted for AGY, which will be company-making. I think it's likely that we'll get the permit some time in the next few months, and that month I'll hopefully win the tipping contest. I am unlikely to win in every month between now and the month we get the permit, but I don't think it's at all realistic to hope I could win the contest every month by tipping a different company each month, so I'm basically playing a 'keep at it every month until I win' strategy. My average score each month is better when I just try to pick a good performer for the month, but I rarely get a #1 rank with that strategy, because someone else usually takes it with a company which releases a spectacular announcement. I've tried this strategy before with very risky companies, but in this case it's a company I have most of my wealth invested in because I'm sufficiently sure it will happen.
