THE partnership between the Gillard Government and the Greens has become strained after a senior minister today blasted the minor party as basket weavers.
A week after Julia Gillard said the Greens were an "extreme'' party, Resources Minister Martin Ferguson hit out at "soap box Bob Brown''.
"You know we can all sit under the tree and weave baskets with no jobs if that's what some people in the NGOs and the Greens want,'' Mr Ferguson told Radio National after the Greens said they wanted a tougher deal on the proposed mining tax.
"Of course we are going to have people jumping up and down and soap box Bob Brown in terms of its never enough in terms of taxation.''
