You have got to be kidding!!

The Liberals will spend the next couple of years or more trying to clean up the bl##dy mess Labor have left behind a la Myki, Wonthaggi desal plant etc etc.

Labor government, state and federal = abysmal money management - period!

Not quite old ****. If you read the budget documents you would find that 676 million is the cost involved with the floods. There is also the $4.1 billion hit to Victoria's GST revenue and $2 billion of cost blowouts for major projects inherited from Labor.

If I remember correctly they also promised about 5 billion dollars on more police, hospital beds and stamp duty reductions to FHB as well. Apparently another 4000 public sector jobs will be created.

I leave you with this little gem if Labor had stayed in power:- By 2013 the Brumby Government total net state debt would have been more than $31 billion.

Victoria’s Auditor-General also blasted John Brumby and his government for their failure to properly account for whether $31 billion of taxpayers’ funds have been spent effectively.

Not quite old ****. Estimated 19 billion by 2013. Some of the money is going here:-

Capital Works - $23.8billion over four years, including an $8.3billion Asset Investment Program in 2009-10

The Asset Improvement Program is designed to support approximately 26,000 jobs in the coming year. This includes:
$1.2billion on expanding, maintaining and improving the State’s electricity infrastructure, broken down in the following way:
$817million allocated to Western Power’s transmission and distribution works;
$500million for Verve Energy including $263.4million to build two high efficiency gas turbines in Kwinana, to be commissioned in 2011-12;
$300million for Horizon Power to invest in regional electricity infrastructure; and
$2.5million to extend the Solar Hot Water Subsidy scheme.
$1.1billion on the State’s water, wastewater and drainage services to ensure the ongoing quality and maintenance of water services and to meet increasing demand
$1.1billion on schools and TAFE colleges throughout the State.
nearly $1.0billion on the construction of dwellings and the development of land throughout WA

$572million on infrastructure to improve and extend the State’s health care facilities
$377million on port infrastructure across the State

Yup just think about the damage Labor could have done with another term, hopefully now we will find out how corrupt they really were.

I'm impressed with their first budget, they kept their promises while still maintaining a surplus.
 
Try again 1st term government to fund their promises will run up $23 bil of dept which they will worry about later.

Liberals simply don't know how to manage budgets without massive dept.

These are the numbers now, WA 2 million odd population and projected $20 bil dept and run up by Liberals.

What happen to spending what we can afford?

What happen to crowding out the required resources for the mining boom?
 
As many said at the time, selling state-owned utilities etc was a profoundly dumb idea. The debts would be repaid, only to see them run up again by a future government. But the second time around, the assets have already been sold, such that we've swapped debt and assets for debt with nothing much to show for it.

As for Myki, well let's just say that Sydney, Adelaide and Hobart all have perfectly adequate means of running a ticketing system for public transport. And all those cities are a relatively short direct flight from Melbourne. Didn't anyone think of taking a look interstate, and then realising that charging people to board a bus, tram or train isn't exactly rocket science? The thing about Myki, is that it's a national joke not just a Victorian one...
 

Ummmm not quite again old ****. You conveniently forget they inherited a 12 billion dollar debt to start with that could have blown out to 31 billion if Labor had remained in power. They still have a 140 million dollar surplus DESPITE honouring their election commitments of over 5 billion. You also dismissed the 676 million cleanup bill for the floods as well as the 4.2 billion GST revenue loss they will suffer over this period of time. I am sure they REALLY orchestrated this to happen ........ NOT

Mate ... when you gotta go, you gotta go and nothing is better than a sh1thouse in the desert. Solar powered or not country WA is better off with Grylls and his "Royalty for Regions" programme. How is it disimilar for the $120 million bribe that Tony Windsor took for the Tamworth Hospital? Or what about the Tasmanian independent Andrew Wilkie's local Hobart Hospital that received $240 million. The Port Macquarie Hospital, in Mr Oakeshott's electorate also received $75 million.

Once again if you look at where the money is going you will see that it is being spent on INFRASTRUCTURE and HEALTH and SCHOOLS and not $900 x 3 to buy votes.
 
Well acording to another WA Lib Wilson tuckey If you pay peanuts you get monkeys,well this current batch of wa polliticians is the best payed state polliticians in the country,but the worst performing in history.The Liberal Party are suppose to be the economic performers but they had difficultly finding a replacement for Troy buswell for treasurer.So after Collin Barnett had to take the reins of treasurer himself we now have to wait for Christian Porters Competence or Troy Buswells return .
Well Im not going to hold my breath.
 

The thread is about VIC state government dept, different mob that graph you show (Federal government and doubt its adjusted for GDP growth) will be nothing compared to the state dept the Liberals are running up they are spending like drunken sailors with no concept of the future issues only they will fix it up later.

Quoting what Labor was going to do is pointless its the Liberals running the show now lets see them show some fiscal restrain.............and I wont be holding my breath.

Ohh Ifocus, this is what you are reduced to... State politics:headshake
The libs will have a very hard time cleaning up state labors mess. Criminal charges were being talked about in NSW against labor members. Labor was that bad that they were shredding documents for 5 days straight here to hide evidence. There are also massive black holes thanks to labors dubious accounting practices.
And you are bagging libs over the first budget
Howards/ Costello first budget was a shocker as well wasn't it.
 
Yes the Liberals have definitely moved to the left, hence this problem.
 

I seriously cannot be bothered to correct this.
