A bunch of people buy memberships to the liberal party and vote on the leaders, so the votes of MPs are relatively irrelevant - At least the changed the rules so Chinese and Russian agents couldn't vote... To run in the race, candidates must raise $350,000, a steep increase from the $75,000 fee in the 2013 race when Justin Trudeau became leader. This change aims to ensure that only serious contenders with the resources to lead the party are able to enter the race. The fee is five times higher than what the Conservatives charged for their 2022 leadership contest, reflecting the increasing costs of running a political campaign in Canada.Not surprised Carbon Tax Carney won - but a little surprised by the margin. He literally was the architect of these policies that sunk Trudeau. How stupid are Canadians? Really? There have to be some papers out there explaining the Canadian obsession with telling Americans to F-off. It's such a silly mentality - you don't see Kiwi's constantly bashing Australia. It's the opposite - they're usually grateful for the opportunities Australia gives them which are typically better.
