Kennas come back...ohhhhhhh...any other fool could see...i was wrong...and i just can't live without you! ;)

What happened to all Kennas' topic's? I thought forums were a place for freedom of speech etc? I actually find topics such as sexuality/religion etc as very thought provoking and helping to expand one's knowledge on such issues.

Hearing others thoughts and ideals is often a great way to grasp a concept from both sides and help people to become more tolerable of a situation :confused:

What would be an acceptable way of discussing such issues...or are they off the radar for now?

Does this have something to do with the infamous "homosexuality" thread?...can someone pls fill me in here? ASF just has to have kennas around, pure and simple, he keeps all us other b******s honest. :)

btw, you shouldn't take him too seriously, the cocoa leaves might finally have got to him ;).

kenna's thread reminded me of that old joke...

party gets a bit slow - noone making any conversation whatsoever

bloke (with speech impediment) gets up .. " Hey, I know a great game for times like this ....

the rest say " wow, great!"

ok he says, putting his left hand in his pocket. "You guess what I've got in my left hand!."

He jumps up again ...

host looks alarmed - he assures her that he'll behave...
similar tentative guesses (you 'll have to imagine these - for brevity ;))

What happened to the homosexuality thread? Unless there was some comment particularly out of order it seems to be another case of censorship in this politically correct sensitive world.

Now, who's going to protest the Pope's visit at WYD with a nice t-shirt like "The Pope Touched Me - Down Under":D:D:D

anyway, the movie (I think) had a line where she says "I was raped when I was twleve, ... and I enjoyed it"
The Australian censors deleted the last 4 words.

So some smart alec critic went public with " well presumably, in Australia, it's ok if 12 year old girls are raped - as long as they don't enjoy it" :(

I think maybe some time out was in order. It was an interesting thread that went in a weird direction. Hopefully all will be sorted.
 
Ok i don't know what has happened to Kennas and i didn't start any chinese whispers he may well be eating the finest chocolate with Incans or scuba diving off the coast of Barbados for all we know!

I was just mixed up my post to reflect that song "Baby come back"...in reference to his topics.

Kennas...reveal yourself divine being...

For those of who missed where the homosexuality thread hived (sic) ((sic)) off to, can you please give us a precis of the topics discussed and why it was censored.

I dont think the way in which the topic was discussed needed censoring, but maybe the way people responded to each other personally was the issue. Well, that was my take on it.
 
GG, I was asking for opinions on what the purpose of homosexuality was, but didn't manage it very well in some peoples eyes.

I think I eventually said that it's a normal human reaction to our hormones and environment. We all have strong sexual urges which have enabled the species to survive and we have strong nurturing emotions that have done the same. Since males and females have testosterone and estrogen, in various doses, and all these other motivations to act, it's natural that some of us will be more motivated to be with a same sex person.

I also threw out the idea that homosexuality may be a population control, but we didn't get to poo poo that idea.

I've reread the thread and I think I was unfairly attacked. Perhaps I might have been overcritical of opinions or attitudes when I should have played a psychologist trying to make people feel good about themselves. I failed. :(

I might have to close this thread down later too.... :eek:

Stan 101 and kennas - I didn't mean to infer that that female tutle was raped by divers ok? nor by David Attenborough - apologies to you both iF i accidentally suggested or implied that it was either of you ;)

PS I think they were "hump back turtles" - by the way they were carying on.

Well, I didn't exactly get the impression you were trying to make me feel good about myself, Kennas. I offered - in response to Bushman's point about taking into account the feelings of homosexual people - a brief remark about my half-brother's ostracisation by our father purely on the basis of his sexual orientation. I made what I think is the entirely valid point that it must be very difficult for many homosexual people coming to terms with their sexuality - to which there is undoubtedly still some stigma attached.
So, yes, it's fine to attempt to objectively dissect the bases for homosexuality, but in my view, any such discussion which ignores and dismisses the emotional and psychological difficulties for said homosexual people is at the very least unbalanced.

You responded quite aggressively to my post with remarks such as it being unnecessary to get into family sob stories etc etc. I found that rude and PM'd you accordingly.

In response you said you accepted that and would close down the thread.
I did not want the thread closed down. I just wanted you to comprehend that you had been unnecessarily rude. Not just to me, but to various other people who had, in my view, made perfectly valid remarks. It's possible to disagree about something without being unpleasant.

Then you sent a further PM saying you had changed your mind and I should not have "made you close down the thread". How could I make you do anything? Further allegation that I was 'biased' and perhaps it 'was to do with my being a baby boomer'. Pretty hard to see the relevance of that.
Something about my having declared myself the 'moderator of moderators'.
Utter nonsense.

So I had decided it was best to not reply to that PM as I just prefer not to get into ongoing squabbles. However, since you have said you feel you were being unfairly treated, I have to say that I disagree.
