Well known for having the crappiest leftist takes on X, almost permanently ratioed.ABC Radio presenter, Patrica Karvelas has moned or been moved on from the morning breakfast announcing job.
According to the ABC offical spiel is that she is moving up.

Perhaps a closer look at the staggering loss of listeners from ABC in the two biggest listening states might give a clue to the real reason for her departure.

I always thought PK to be a good journalist, but she definitely has hobby horses she likes riding, indigenous affairs being one. Those figures certainly show a stunning drop which indicates the RN audience is pretty conservative, not that Fran Kelly was a 'blueblood'.ABC Radio presenter, Patrica Karvelas has moned or been moved on from the morning breakfast announcing job.

I believe she could be a very good journalist, apart from her overt bias. That said I have seen a couple of very good segments lately from her. Talented but if she could remain completely neutral she would be very good. Well I still listen but I switch her off when she starts riding one of her hobby horses. Apparently a lot of people did the same and didn't switch on again later. It matters little how many people think Karvelas is a great journalist.
The ones that do matter, namely the people who might be inclined to listen to ABC National, voted with their feet and left.
Ratings are king in radio, probably more so in the commercials than the ABC as the various radio stations vie for the advertising dollar.
Karvelas just plain failed to keep the few listeners that the ABC still had.

That is the crux of the matter, the ABC is funded by all taxpayers, the reporters aren't actually there to form personal opinions regarding politics and current affairs, they are there to give a balanced, unbiased critique of issues to inform the public.Well I still listen but I switch her off when she starts riding one of her hobby horses. It was encouraging to hear the new boss of the ABC Kim Williams saying that there was no place at the ABC for crusading journalists. That is the crux of the matter, the ABC is funded by all taxpayers, the reporters aren't actually there to form personal opinions regarding politics and current affairs, they are there to give a balanced, unbiased critique of issues to inform the public.
If they don't do that, then they basically no different to a commercial radio station, with the exception that they don't require advertising dollars to stay viable.
The way they are going they will bring about their own demise,by lack of patronage, or just from lack of relevance.
Being an obviously biased medium, they end up being ignored by all sides, because the public know what stance the ABC will take and will therefore look elsewhere for coverage.
Growing up in remote areas of Western Australia, the only media we received was ABC radio and it was also the staple diet for current affairs, they were trusted and provided an exemplary service.
That's obviously not the case any more and people will and can vote with their feet these days, as all the media outlets are finding out.
What the journalists have to understand is IMO, it isn't their ABC, it is our ABC.It was encouraging to hear the new boss of the ABC Kim Williams saying that there was no place at the ABC for crusading journalists.
Karvelas is too good to lose but hopefully she has been brought into line and will now be more even handed.
We will see.
Its ok, the audiences will get smaller and smaller as a percentage of the population until it dawns on someone at the ABC hierarchy that the whole concept of the ABC is irrelevant. The ABC moves further Left under Kim Williams which is disappointing.
The artie f@rties are dominating the ABC's spending with 6 new Arts shows, but no sign of science or other STEM educational programs ie things that people need instead of think they want.
They will be an even bigger waster of space imo.

Government gives ABC an early Christmas present
A concerted campaign by the public broadcaster’s chairman Kim Williams has helped convince the federal government to tip in more dollars.www.smh.com.au
The federal government has handed the ABC an early Christmas present, giving it an additional $83 million over two years from July 2026, as it continues its push to legislate a longer funding term for the public broadcaster.
Communications Minister Michelle Rowland said on Monday that the government will deliver the additional funding to the ABC over two years from 2026-27, with ongoing funding of $43 million extra thereafter. There was no additional funding allocated to SBS.
The decision to pump more into the public broadcaster comes after its chair, Kim Williams, launched a concerted campaign for increased funding. Williams, who replaced Ita Buttrose in March, has used a series of speeches since his appointment to extol the importance of the ABC in the local media landscape and why it needs to be better funded.
His latest call for increased funding came in November during a National Press Club event, where he argued that the ABC’s operating funding terms had fallen by $150 million a year over the past decade.
The left locking in funding to ensure their trojan horse will remain active irrespective of voters wishes..How he will spend the money is the important thing.
