Sam,

Commsec offer mobile trading & snap market data with limited market depth.

IB offers mobile trading too, have not tried IB yet

I use it at work for monitoring & trading with my Iphone.
My mobile phone bill is about 11 pages long & only use 26mb. Everytime I use, it is recorded, hence many pages.
I sometimes leave connected for auto update but I think Commsec disconnect if not used.

Get the latest Iphone 3GS, download/upload is very fast compared with 3G.

My 3G plan with Optus comes with 250mb of data, which is heaps for trading only, ie. no download of any others eg. facebook or movies

Tax deductable if you are a trader with ABN.

Can you deduct all of your iPhone costs, or do you have to itemise and identify the trading-related downloads?

EDIT: And does this only apply at all if you are claiming trading profits as income rather than capital gains?

You can claim reasonable costs for running an investment portfolio such as travel costs to AGM's etc. Personally I don't see why you could not claim costs of running an iphone, but would need to split into personal/business costs.

Use bloomberg.
Do you know what the delay is on Bloomberg?
I have it but haven't used the portfolio yet.

I currently use Stock Tracker Pro which has two data feed options, not sure of the first but it only goes to 2 decimal points, second is Yahoo with 3 decimal points though I think it has a 20min delay. Great app for portfolio tracking, wishlists, world market info, charts and heaps of functionality

If I wish to make a trade on the Iphone, I use safari to access the Westpac investing website. They currently have an app for banking but none for broking.

cheers
