On querying a premium increase, I can't remember which company it was, I was told that total claims paid out in this postcode was the reason for the increase even though I didn't make a claim.
So it seems whether it's natural disaster claims or theft, the more of it in your area, the premium goes up. It seems along the lines of a previous post of adjusting the risk factors
I recently got a quote from the "pay for the km you drive" company for 15,000km per year - the quote was $1,250, where every other insurer was about $465 regardless of travel.
