Why a quant approach can thrive in the age of passive investing
The rise of passive investing is unlikely to derail the value of quantitative strategies. Passive investing hasn’t eradicated the irrationality of crowds, leaving pockets of opportunity to outperform indices.
apart from currently doing a bit of stock picking personally , i am nibbling at ( conservatively managed ) actively managed LICs as some are fairly cheap and under-loved
i disagree with the late Charlie Munger , if a good stock is on sale , i am ( carefully ) buying some ( including those sub $15 BHP )
but you need to cash a little cash in reserve and have a lot of patience
