They say that a good trader can live anywhere. So if you could choose to live anywhere, where would you live to trade?

Some considerations for me at least:

Capital gains tax
Health care system
Education
Geopolitical stability
Weather or Climate
BBand or Inet quality

I'll post some ideas later too.

Popular places are:

Singapore and more recently Dubai.

There has been a government sponsored arcade setup with a Eurex hub with a few big boys setting up shop. 95% of the community is expat there too. Only they have some ****ed up Islamic laws still in place.

I know of one who has moved to Singapore from Australia. He trades fixed income.

Not sure why - but HK doesn't seem to have the same amount of prop shop facilities as Singapore. Anyone know?

Heres a simple matrix which i have filled out with a rating from 1 to 10, 10 being highest for each item that one would look for in a home....i could be missing a few.

For those interested, just reply with another item, or if you know how the item rates in a particular country, then reply with the rating.

For example, i rate the inet connection in China as very good, a 9.

Others, i'm not sure of, like NZ, maybe Porper could add something here.

Capital gains here is very good, its zero.

I'll update the matrix as i get input.

Turks & Caicos.

Stable govt based on English Law. Telephone and internet seems comparable to Australia. Lots of tourism money from the USA. No taxes.

CanOz - you speak fluent mandarin or any of the Chinese dialects?

I'm considering studying mandarin. I'm surrounded by Cantonese and Mandarin speakers pretty much all the time now and would love to move to Asia for abit.
