I am reliably informed by some of the Family that Queen Elizabeth's message to the world will mention the Global Financial Crisis.

Isn't she a great lady to think of us all in these straightened times.

She could have ignored it, but she is braver than that.

And some here would want to have a republic.

Queen chooses A Bunch of Amateurs as Christmas film for family at Sandringham after finding it 'hilarious'

Like most British families, the Royals enjoy nothing better than a good movie over Christmas.

And this year the Queen has already chosen the film that will be slotted into the Sandringham DVD player.

The Mail on Sunday has learned that she was so impressed by A Bunch Of Amateurs – selected for the annual Royal Film Performance in November – that she contacted the producer and expressed a desire to share it with the rest of her family."

From the UK Daily Mail

Isn't it fantastic that HM can find it in her generous heart to support the less well off at Christmas, a film whose profits go to charity.

What a champ. Jolly good.

Thank you knocker.

GumbyLearner, while the dreadful video you posted may appeal to the left in this country, our Royal Family remain a beacon in an otherwise decrepit universe.

Their assiduous attention to public duty and the welfare of the Commonwealth will not be undermined by undergraduate frolics portraying HM smoking dope, flogging her crown or dancing for lunch.

If I had a horsewhip I'd use it on you Sir.

Having the top chook of the worlds largest inbred family speak about financial crisis while being extravagantly funded by those who can least afford it is a bloody good reason for a republic I think.
Their German ancestors would be proud of the one they pulled over the poms though.

I say ol boy, lets have another chukka eh what, Mumsie is going to watch :hide::whip:behead:

Maybe Wills can put his helicopter skills to good use (rather than impressing his missus on the Isle of Wight) and drop some of the Bank of England's finest on the indebted classes? Imagine that - Helicopter Ben and Helicopter Wills fighting the dark market forces together a la Batman & Robin. Gotham City, New York and London might be saved from those nefarious zombie-bankers after all. Hoorah.

Those fox-hunting, chain smoking royals are an anachronsim my friends, a throw back to Mother England's yoke when Brittania did, indeed, rule the waves. I will not bow to a bejewelled eighty year-old fossil, be it Catholic or Protestant. The Queen is irrelevant and her supporters belong in the realm of the fantasist. This time the revolution will be televised. The embroyonic caterpillar that is Australia is ensconsed in its cocoon and the pupation is nearly complete. This crunch we are experiencing will focus us firmly on Asia (bless) and our blessed trade partners of the Orient will justifiably laugh if we haven't spread our wings soon.

Yours majestically

B'man (and a very Merry Christmas to all you warblers too.)

It appears this message was not that exciting and it also answers the " what do scots wear under their kilt" question ...

I have previously posted a marvellous holiday that Mrs Gumnut and I had in that "Sceptered Isle".

It was a delegation to showcase the finest of our North Queensland wool.

Enclosed is a picture of Mrs Gumnut modelling one of the creations in front of Her Majesty.

I spent some time with the Royal Family and found them to be hardworking and intelligent.

It was a marvellous week, Qantas at that stage had a proper first class and flew in a straight line. We actually ended up a head on the trip.

Its all to do with staying power Green2 mate.

I am a mere lowly subject when it comes to the Majesty of the British Royal Family.

Yes I have been fortunate to spend a few days with them at Sandringham when we had a good shoot, bagging over a hundred birds in one morning.

But I respect their majesty.

I suspect you do not.

As an Australian I would suggest you google David Flint, who can more elegantly than I posit a case for their continuance in our lives.

Enclosed a picture of this great man.

When the hell did you get married! I'll take that you're pulling my proverbial leg

gg I've had a great year arguing with you, you righty!! I though we had come to pass on our differences then you bring the queen into AFS!! Bring out your boxing gloves again - ha ha round 2 scheduled for early 2009!

I think we are advanced enough and adventuresome enough to really be on our own as a nation. I do hope she will welcome the multitudes with open arms to her humble kitchen for tea, when those rather staving sods can't get into woolies.

A little charity goes a long way........

I don't care whether Australia becomes a Republic or remains a monarchy.
I might - if offered a vote - cast it for a Republic purely out of irritation at that pompous ass, David Flint, who has single handedly done the monarchy a vast disservice.

I have a good deal of respect for the Queen. She didn't choose the life.
She has acted always with dignity and equanimity, even in the face of some appalling behaviour amongst her own family.

I have a good deal of respect for the Queen.

I do like her as an individual too, the queen mother I always thought was a delightful lady.

The whole nazi armband wearing blue blood superior monarchy concept is really only supported now by two groups, the 'jolly good show old boy' mob and the peasants who need to have someone to look up to.

The whole thing reminds me of my late Grandfathers axe, it had five new handles and two new heads but it was the same axe according to him

Thank you all for your comments.

On my wife and I's travels with HM she showed an ability to mix with the common folk, even though the corgis were discomfitted.

I enclose a picture of her boarding an omnibus one night when we went to Covent Garden ( There were too many of us to go in the Rolls, petrol is expensive in London due to the "you know who" "

Apparentlly HRH is looking to simplify her forthcoming Christmas message:

Stuff wealth, a corgi is all you need after all.
