Otherwise fairly enjoyable.
I have just seen Avatar. Whilst the storyline is fairly standard and predictable, it is a good yarn and I would have say say that this movie is right up there. The 3D effect is unbelievable. I even ducked a couple of times, and some of the scenes I felt as though I could just lean over the chair in front and touch it. Absolutely fantastic, and the futuristic science & technology concepts were mind blowing, not to mention the idea of the planet Pandora.
What was the budget for this movie?
Around $700 million i believe
Described by Mr Murdoch as the "most successful film in cinematic history", Avatar has taken in $US2 billion ($2.3 billion) since its premiere in December, making it the highest grossing film of all time.
The James Cameron blockbuster is also the most expensive movie ever made.
Nominated for nine Academy Awards including Best Film, the film continues to plays to packed theatres around the world, so far drawing about $US30 million a week in the US and a further $US95 million globally.
http://news.yahoo.com/s/huffpost/20100112/en_huffpost/420605The beautiful alien planet Pandora depicted in James Cameron's 'Avatar' is so captivating that some audience members are becoming depressed and even suicidal when they fail to find meaning in real life after the film is over.
