Seems on Sunday I was trying to access ASF and could not bring it up. Now all this week, when I access this page, it starts to load up then does a refresh of it. Anyone else having this issue?

Re: has changes been made to asf?

it does it occaisionally for me on my personal comp. i thought it was aproblem on my end.

its nothing i cant put up with though, 1 extra second

Re: has changes been made to asf?

Yeah has been doing this to me also, refreshing upto 3 times.

Re: has changes been made to asf?

I also noticed some problems then, and assumed it was work being carried out or server down..

Did get php script errors so guess server was up, but maybe database was down....anyway something technical...

Anyway working properly here, since then no probs...

Perhaps delete temporary files in your browser, or try on anther pc, to isolate problem...????

Re: has changes been made to asf?

My history and temp files get deleted several times a day. I've also deleted my cookies. This is happening to me on 3 seperate PC's.

Re: has changes been made to asf?

The page refreshes twice for me in most cases and occasionally three times.

Re: has changes been made to asf?

No refresh problems for me - I'm on firefox browser on a linux system though.

I'd try some different browsers and see if the problem occurs. Also - i think you can choose the number of 'posts' to display per page under 'user cp' in the menu. pages should load quicker if you reduce the number.

Re: has changes been made to asf?

Why change browsers when we've already ascertained it's a problem with ASF? Sure it's not a huge deal to just sit and watch it refresh, but the point is something is wrong. It's clear it's not a problem with just one person. It's happening on several different pc's to several different people. It used to work using the same browsers they were using before. It doesn't happen on other pages we go to. Don't confuse this for a whinge...just thought the admins might want to know about it.

Re: has changes been made to asf?

Did have the same thing happening for a few days but it appears to be back to normal now.

What whinge??? what confusion??
If you don't like my suggestions - then ignore it...
won't waste my time on you in the future...

Re: has changes been made to asf?

worth changing to Firefox imo - have released a couple of web apps lately & Firefox is much more stable than IE for the same app

Re: has changes been made to asf?

I've not had any unusual problems apart from random downtime for an hr or so over the weekend.

It just goes to show how much work Joe does behind the scenes (and for free!) to ensure ASF runs smoothly for all of us mug punters.

Re: has changes been made to asf?

I'm on firefox too and haven't had a problem. But thanks for the heads up, I'm sure Joe will look into it when he gets a spare moment.

Re: has changes been made to asf?

Happens to me every time I log in, and continuously - I have to click New Posts to get it to stop! It doesnt 'sit' on the page for more than a second. This happened before when ASF upgraded servers - maybe 12 months ago?

Re: has changes been made to asf?

No problems with Internet Explorer, Firefox or Flock.

Re: has changes been made to asf?

The problem with changing browers, email applications, operating systems, is that sooner or later, the competition will have something better, more stable, and more features, with less holes, etc, etc and so the circle begins.

BUT better the devil you know than the devil you don''t know as this circle never ends, and will have you chasing the tail of the marketing guru's and their products.

IMO, I stick to what the masses are using (despite exploits) as ALL apps have expliots (yes including Firefox, Linux, & macs) and find my knowledge on the products much better, get help on these products quicker, hardware more compatiable, and generally find the software cheaper if payable.

BUT each to their own.

same thing with me and I don't know much about computers I'm running vista...so is it my computers problem or ASF?

Re: has changes been made to asf?

Not sure if it is a problem my end but loading pages here on ASF has all but ground to a halt for me??? just checked my connection and it is 14170/1023 kbps... so that shouldn't be a problem???
Cheers

Re: has changes been made to asf?

Well the auto refreshing pages has stopped on all my pc's now. Has been good all week. But does seem to be loading a bit slow but that happens a lot on this particular pc I'm using during the daytime.
