It's approaching that time of the year with the xmas and sumer coming up.
Do you guys have some good place to recommend for people with young family.?
give and take money usually isnt an issue for me.

I prefer places near a beach and have lot of place to eat .
I usually don't cook on holiday and prefer to eat nice food.

PS: I'm in the ACT

take the swags out and camp somewhere along the murray river. kids will love it.

wont be a murray river in a few years so might as well enjoy it now!

great place for families is Cradle Mountain Lodge in Tasmania

no beaches though - beautiful scenery, native fauna, awesome food

As a foreigner(from Wolverhampton,UK) I think pretty much the whole of Australia is a great place to holiday.We live in Brisbane now and even Redcliffe(locals laugh with scorn)and I personally cant see the point in driving/flying hours(doing my bit for global warming) to this beach that beach when an hour or so in either direction is heaven.Same applies going inland as well.The lucky country indeed.

Here are some Queensland choices:

The Gold Coast is great for the beach and eating out, also it has the added bonus of a variety of theme parks to keep the kids amused. Got to get in quick though as it is hard to get accomodation over Christmas/New Year.

If you prefer a destination a little more slow paced then anywhere on the Sunshine Coast is good - Noosa - great restaurants/beach, Mooloolaba or Caloundra (bit more low key but heaps of beaches to choose from).

If you feel like going further afield how about Hamilton Island - you have all the fun of the great barrier reef, the kids are relatively contained so can't get into too much trouble and there are plenty of restaurants on the Island.

Why don't you try Kiama? There are now 4.5 star new apartments available at Grand Mercure Kiama Blue. Wonderful views with an outdoor bar bistro overlooking the bay. (on internet) Go to Chachis restaurant great food, visit Shellharbour village lots of restaurants, nice ocean pool.

You must take the kids to Minnamurra 5kms north of Kiama beautiful clear river and you can swim across to a deserted beach. You can also go to Jamberoo Ski Park apparently they have new rides.

You most probably have already been to Kiama but if not it is worth a try.

Probably way too far away, but being from WA we're heading to Coral Bay near Exmouth again soon, can't get enough of that place

My kids are aged 8 & 10 and we go to Rimini Apartments at Noosaville a lot. Noosaville is great. Lots of Restaurants and a really nice riverside with bbq's , yachts, catamarans, and walkways. Kids swim on the sandy riverside. Its only about 3-4 minutes to busy Hastings St at Noosa with more nice restaurants and a really nice beach. Theres lots of bushwalks too. I live on the Gold Coast and I way prefer the sunshine coast. Its lots prettier and more relaxed. My kids love it.

Hervey Bay, Qld, about 300k north of Brisbane is good for families.
The bay is protected by Fraser Island which has some terrific tours if you're into eco stuff. About 20kms of safe swimming (calm waters) and clean sandy beaches. All the usual boating/surf skis etc. Every standard of accommodation from caravan parks to 5 star resorts. Huge selection of restaurants plus good local produce from markets if you want to cook for yourself. Great weather.

My favourite destination is Port Stephens, north of Newcastle (just across from where the PM goes every year). Nearby Anna Beach is magnificent for swimming & 4WD activity.

Only trouble is I come from Melbourne, which is a long way away

NSW south coast is a good family gig IMO. Anywhere from Nowra to Eden.
