He's considered an underachiever by many, which has a case. I think many expected him to be winning Majors but he just hasn't got there. Plenty of lower order tournaments, but nil Majors.

Hopefully this is the one.

His sponsors will be particularly happy. He's been a pin up boy for years but hasn't actually pinned anything up.

He can only lose it today I think. Par round and he's got the Claret Jug.
 
Didn't he and Anna Ivanovich recently go their seperate ways? I reckon he's been playing better since then (less distraction )
 
I've played golf twice.

Both times I paced myself at a stubby a hole.

it is a pleasant, if entirely forgettable experience.

Very sad for Scott and one wonders how much mental damage this will inflict. But how gracious were both Els and Scott in their interviews. Els' first comments were indicating empathy for Adam in his disappointment while Scott stood manfully in front of the cameras with a demeanour that covered the torment he must have been feeling inside. Perhaps some of the top golfers from the other side of the Atlantic, with their frequent references to the support they get from above, could learn a thing or two.
 
Oh dear . I really feel for him. Ironically if he had had those four bogeys on any other day (or sprinkled throughout the four days) it wouldn't have seemed so bad. I was thinking he'd have to have a bad patch sooner or later but hoped it wouldn't happen like that

The Aussie based netball team was beaten by a NZ one in the final yesterday too. I do hope 2012 isn't going to be an annus horribilis for Australian sport
 
Adam should have a good crack this weekend as well.

He's probably the best long iron player in the game. And this course requires a lot of long irons with a shape.

But he is disadvantaged by the scheduling now due to the weather.

But still.
 
Cam Smith comes across as a genuinely nice guy.

Good to see the Mullet Man has not forgotten where he came from. At the end of his acceptance speech, he said " This ones for Aus".

His run of five straight birdies will go down in championship history, given it took place on the back nine on the final day of an Open Championship, and at St Andrews. The fifth birdie gave him the lead for the first time.

The infamous 17th hole threatened to bring him undone, but he calmly rolled in a 10-footer to save par.
 

He didn't show any signs of nerves that I could see and his putting was impeccable.

Very deserved win.

Interesting stats coming out. As the measured comment says, he played calmly and McIlroy didn't get enough birdies.
Rory Mcilroy is the only player to hold the third round lead at a major, hit every green in regulation in the final round and not win.

Grayson Murray, the professional golfer who won two PGA Tour titles and was outspoken about his battles with depression and alcohol, died on Saturday. He was 30. His death was confirmed in a statement by the PGA Tour, which did not give a cause.
