Hi All,
Does anyone know how to get info on the level of hedging, if any, a gold producer has?
...or is it just a matter of trawling through financial reports and announcements?
Thanks

Most mining companies will have their hedging policy outlined in their annual reports.

Some have a policy of hedging, others don't (I don't think BHP hedges anymore), the ones that do hedge can have various strategies.

Unfortunately, it's the latter.
Companies even seem to be rather coy about their levels of hedging and forward sales. They're concerned that the information could be used against them - if the spot price moves against the hedge, for example.
Google "mark-to-market" and you'll find several scenarios where a hedgebook can bit a miner where it hurts.

It is a bit easier than that.

You filter out all the companies you are interested in.

If there are some gold producers amongst them, then:
It is just a matter of trawling through a few financial reports and announcements.
A photographic memory will help.
