I've had a great year and want to gift my employers some smoked salmon. Normally people give a bottle of something - I hate doing that as it just seems like you've put little thought into it.

How do you do this? Should I do it? Have I just drunk a little too much?

I don't want other employees to know, and don't want to be treated any differently - just a way of saying thanks for the year.

It's not protocol and it's kind of awkward and weird - but it shouldn't be.

I can send it to their home addresses or I can send them a cryptic email message and let them know there is a parcel wrapped in newspaper in the fridge.

Great idea, LC. I like the idea of the email telling them about the parcel in the frig.
Good on you for thinking of it. Too many people expect their employers to thank them without ever considering the reverse.:)

I've thought of a better way to do it. This will make them wonder who it's from, and feel good. I'll descretely bring up two parcels wrapped in Newspaper, with a little card saying thanks for a great year. Hand it to the receptionist and say I found these on the steps.

I don't want to say it's from me.

Because the day they decide to fire me, I'll let them know the present in 2011 was from me - then they will feel bad, and I'll feel good.

Win Win

Because I like to give. It makes me feel good. I have a very good life and I appreciate the efforts that others have made towards getting me to where I am today. I don't want special treatment and don't seek complications.

Have I drunk too much?
