Your unfortunate crash has left you sans dash,
But your typos still look just the same!

I just had a thought... which I'll offer for nought.
Are you game for a change of name?

All manner of monikers came into mind,
Not "Fighter", nor "Boxer" nor "Puncher"

The one that I picked hope you not find unkind,
To dub thee yon noble "BoneCruncher"!

Its kinda like being caught in groundhog day being in hospital for a few weeks...... new comer arrived last night, broken arm , another Motorcycle accident, well over 50pc of injuries here are motorcycles ....

Did Joe actually make it so you can change your nic ? he was going to months back I remember .....
 
This time last year I was like you in hospital in the Cardiac care unit replacing a heart valve in which a golden staff bug had eaten his way through it, the stories I can tell you ,you would not believe .Every day this old girl (MARTHA) would hop out of bed and turn our lights off, thinking she was saving the hospital power because she use to do this at home.So I would eventually buzz the nurse and she would turn the lights back on again

This would happen all day, on again off again until the old girl wore me down ,and we would lie like possums in the dark in the middle of the dayduring my stay the market dropped for 12 consecutive days .So good luck and beware of old ladys called Martha

Well if your going to do it right you did rather well.

You said that 50% are motor bike accidents. I'm looking at a bike.

I don't mind the gruesome details but would like to know just how bad are the injuries? What sort of accidents? ie, speed, car not seeing them, them not looking etc New or experienced bikers? Were they all wearing the appropriate gear, Full Face Helmet, Padded leathers, proper boots, gloves etc.
What kind of bike was it if it was a mechanical fault?

Justjohn, hope all is well now. Must have been a nightmare, even without Martha!

Numbercruncher, at least you're not encased in plaster which means no itching ec. Will that continue i.e. the frame instead of plaster?

Yes, you can change it once, on the condition that you put a note under your new NIC advising who you used to be.

Who are you going to become, legcruncher...or wallabycruncher perhaps?

For my motorcycle misadventures so far I' ve only managed a broken collarbone. That looks far, FAR less funny. Hope you make a full recovery, sincerely.

and from now on m8, you'll have to have an xray in your wallet to prove that you didn't have a condom full of - metal filings of sompin - hidden somewhere when you try to board a flight

Oouch... you certainly made a mess of yourself NC.

Hope it all heals well.

Fortunately the only bone I've broken is a finger in a car accident.

I can relate to how you must have felt at the time though. I used to ride a 125 trail bike to work when I was a youngster. Saw a black jack wallaby coming through the bush, hit all brakes and almost came to a stop when the dumb thing crossed in front of me... fortunately for me, it just bumped off the front wheel and kept on going.

hell, I had a Great Dane dog once - was hit by a volkswagen -

dog was ok, but cost me $300 for damage to the car

They use a titanium alloy for the femoral nail which is 1/2 inch diameter and goes through the marrow of the femur. The alloy generally doesn't get detected by the walk through detectors. I have quite extensive metal work through out the lower half of my body (motorbike vs car accident) but have only been stripped down to my underpants twice. Much to my displeasure of course, the partly healed surgical scars and crutches weren't obvious to some. Getting asked to walk through the scanner when I was in a wheelchair sparked me up for a verbal serving.

But now I don't seem to have so much of a problem with the detectors. Maybe the sensitivity has been turned down. Getting off topic...

The leg is looking good numbercruncher, doesn't appear to be much swelling. If you had a delayed closure keep up the breathing exercises (and sit up in bed as often as possible) as you will be prone to lung collapse.

Mmm... I can remember belting around out at Araluen here in the Perth hills on my road bike, doing about 150-160... and a group of Kangaroos decide to belt across the road. Missed the last one by about half a metre, but almost literally shat myself.

Had someone go straight through a stop sign when on my bike as well... that one didn't end so well...
