The Monetary Authority of Macau (AMCM) became aware of the situation of attracting customers from the public regarding the opening of investment accounts in the name of “Futu Securities” on social networks. AMCM hereby publishes this announcement in order to alert the public that Futu Securities is not and has never been authorized to engage in any financial activities in the Macau Special Administrative Region (Macao SAR).
Under the terms of paragraph 1 of article 2 of the Legal Regime of the Financial System (RJSF), approved by Decree-Law no. 32/93 / M, of 5 July, only duly authorized financial institutions can exercise financial activities in the MSAR. However, the unauthorized exercise, by any person or entity, of operations reserved for financial institutions subject to supervision, constitutes a “particularly serious infraction”, as provided for in paragraph b) of paragraph 2 of article 122 of the RJSF, and a maximum fine of MOP5 million.
AMCM again warns the public that it must carry out its financial transactions through authorized financial institutions, in order to avoid fraud and unnecessary losses.
