Hi

Like many before me I am in the decision making process of trying to evaluate amibroker vs metastock. Due to all the positive feedback from this forum and over the web I have decided to start with amibroker.

It nice to see that amibroker allows the capture of fundamental information for symbols, and for US symbols they can be auto populated through feeds. However this is where I have a few questions.

1. Is there any way of auto populating Aussie stock fundamentals through feeds? Even if it was only the stock sector/industry that would be helpful.

2. Does anyone know if metastock is any good with the fundamentals? They tout something called the fundamental analyzer but there is little literature on it.

3. What do other people use for scanning/analyzing company fundamental data? Is there any neat pieces of software out there that can help? In the past I have used the search/filtering tools of netwealth and then I have a spreadsheet that i developed that automatically pulls financial statements from moneycentral which I do analysis on.

I acknowledge that amibroker is for ta and not primarily fundamentals. My trading approach uses a little both If I have to use 2 tools then so be it, but it would be nice if everything was in a single tool.

Cheers

Hi Rx2 --

I was an active MetaStock user before switching to AmiBroker. I also tried to use fundamental data together with price history in trading systems.

I have written a paper that outlines my thoughts on the use of fundamental data in trading systems, and how to resolve the difficulties. You can download a free copy from this web page:

Click the link to "Use of Fundamental Data in Active Investing" You will get a 30 page pdf file.

Thanks,
Howard

Thanks Howard for responding and providing a link to your paper. I will print it out and have a read to see what conclusions you came too. It will be on the list after I have finished reading "Master The Markets" originally by Tom Williams around Volume Spread Analysis - which is an interesting read.

Cheers
