Full CY 2024 Stock Tipping Competition

End of Week 4 update for December so far in the 2024 CY Competition.
In the Christmas and New Year spirit I hope all didn't mind me updating @Logique2 posts for Nov/Dec and leaving him in the 2024 Comp.
Not in the running for prize money so I thought it would be OK. Hope all is Ok with him.

At the moment:
1st: @UMike .........up 205.23% ...... MSB still charging ahead, up 812.90% so far this year. He is home and hosed!
2nd: @access ...... up 87.09% ....... has added 27.93% this month and has 2nd place firmly in his grasp. OCC up 71.60% so far this month along with BRN up 43.14%.
3rd: @debtfree .. up 32.71% ...... added some profit this month up 10.57% grabbing 3rd place.

3rd Place is certainly up for grabs over the next 2 days with many within a couple of percent of @debtfree. Such a shame really.


Best movers so far this month: @access up 27.93% ....... @UMike up 11.76% ....... @debtfree up 10.57% ......... @Als2own up 10.15%
Best Stock % move so far this month: OCC up 71%
Worst Stock % move so far this month: 29M down 32.88%

You guys dont realize how much trouble you are in. I have moved up one position to 4th last with 2 days to run.... By Tuesday I should snag 3rd (last) position easily ....

Thanks @debtfree for your excellent work and updates all year and to @Sean K for your generous input.

Just as a side note, if PRS hits 6 cents before 26th April, 2025 and hold the rise ... I'll stump up an extra Grand prizemoney for the 2025 yearly comp.

If not ... fortunately I dont mind the taste of baked beans!

End of the Full CY 2024 Stock Tipping Competition Results.
A big Thank You to all Tipsters this year for all the effort you put into keeping the viewers of Companies threads updated on your Yearly Tips, much appreciated.

Prizes for this Competition: 1st - $500 ..... 2nd - $250 ..... 3rd - $150 ..... Last - $100.

1st Place: @UMike with an staggering 225.54%. He won it with the selection of MSB in his portfolio as it was up 900% for the year. You only need 1 biggie to win it, well done!

2nd Place: @access with an outstanding 88.56%. 3 good stocks in the portfolio, BRN up 129.41% and OCC up 230.49% and also RAC up 60.71%. Very good picks, well done!

3rd Place: @debtfree with a solid 37.15%. BVS up 163.16% .... EOS up 24.52% .... and IMB up 27.27%. A big sigh was heard as the prices came in and was sorted.

Just behind in 4th @mullokintyre up 34.52% ...... 5th @IvoryWolf up 34.46% ....... @rcm617 up 31.55% ....... @divs4ever up 30.06% ....... so you can see 3rd Place was up for grabs even on the last day.

Oh, lets not forget Last Place: @basilio down 38.37%. Yes he deserves it, portfolio all in the red, an absolute terrible effort, unless you aimed for last place. If that is so, congrats, well done.

Anyway I better post this spreadsheet result below as I'm running late.

CONGRATULATIONS to @UMike well done .. ( a damned shame Peter Hall wasn't still running his two LICs , i held them both , trading the wheels off MSB ) .. but a win is indeed a win

good work to @access and @debtfree a tidy effort as well ( too tidy for me to snatch third place )

and what a tough tussle for those that missed third place , maybe we will do better in 2025

thanks so @debtfree for all the hard work running the comp. and to @Sean K for providing the incentive to play ( seems 'bragging rights ' is over-rated in these times

scary was @basilio coming home with 4 reds which included two large cap. stocks

we all failed to finish with 4 greens although @Dona Ferentes made a gallant run at it ( for several months )

oh well , wishing everybody a better finish in the 2025 comp. ( maybe @UMike will get a ten-bagger next year , wouldn't that be something ? )
 

Well there we are. If I was going to thoroughly trash my portfolio in 2024 all I had to do was pick it for the stock competition.
Is the bonus picking up $100 for my resounding "success" ?

What a finish! A massive congratulations to @UMike for taking out the championship, @access for a solid second place well away from the tussle for third place, @debtfree for taking out third place ahead of the rest of us (and for arranging a terrific competition amongst all of the challenges of the year) and once again for @Sean K for sponsoring the competition.

A fresh start for a new year starts shortly - get some well-earned rest, celebrate with loved ones and those you all care about, see you all soon next year!

It seems my mid day quick calc was on the money @debtfree ...... Well done for leap frogging into 3rd place right on the deadline. (And bad luck Mick of course)

I reckon with all the time you spent on spreadsheeting and updates etc,
The $150 prizemoney might have earned you about $1 buck an hour!! Definitely not a get rich quick scheme, lol.

I live in the back streets of Cuba so the $1 buck an hour is great money Barney.

As for the $150 .... I took a leaf out of @Faramir's book and will be putting it towards an earlier deposit we did for a young lass down the road who badly needs braces to straighten her teeth and her single mum is feeling the financial pressure, like everyone of late. Thanks Sean, much appreciated.
