Hi all, my first thread here.

Just wondering if anyone has a funny/strange trading story concerning profit or loss.

I'll start with mine.

I had my son for the last school holidays, great boy very thoughtfull and very energtic with long spans of playstation (of course i let him beat me). The life of a 10yr old.

So we play about all week with me trying to keep an eye on CSM, which at this time was jumping into $5 territory topping at $5.20 then sliding down. It was all over the place.

He dicides on Wed. he will go back to his mother's Friday afternoon fine by me. I spent 10 quality days with my boy, fantastic.

Friday arrives. From memory CSM was $5.15 at start of the day $5.00 at midday and we are catching the 3.00pm train all up 1hr train trip 15min for me to get home again. Bugger markets closed then.

Im thinking it should stay in that range so Monday I will sell $5.13 and gain quite a nice profit of 800%-ish. The train ride was short we joked about it was fun that last hour. Even his mother was in good humour. Strange.

I get home boot up the 'puter to check the score card make a cuppa while this is happening. Open my share list.

"WHAT the....$5.44". Taking him home just cost me about $6K plus the $5 train fare.

So when he ask's for a car at 18 i will tell him this story and deduct that of the car he wants.lolol...

Love to hear more stories, unfortunately mine is a loss.........Dean

.... nice story, Dean.

But just a couple of questions, to clarify how that could happen .....

..... are you sure your son went back to his mother on Friday???

If so, then the $5.44 high was made on Thursday 08102007 and
the high on the Friday was $5.15 and the close was $5.00.

So, it seems you were looking at Thursday's data, making you
day late for taking a profit, around the $5.44 high ... better
luck next time ..... :)

..... and, you have been holding CSM since, at least 07072003, then ???

If so, that takes some real trading discipline ... and after so long,
why would you decide to take a profit, at exactly $5.44, anyway ... ???

have a great day

Hi Dean,

..... just trying to get a handle on how you are thinking,
as an investor .....

So, with a $5.oo exit, you have made 10,000% ROI ... that's amazing stuff!~!

... and after so long, what was the trigger for you to take a profit,
at exactly $5.44, anyway ... ???

have a great day

No paul you got me wrong. I did buy CSM in '97 at 5c they changed names and did a buy back making the shares 90c-ish in 2003-ish. The 80,000 odd shares I had then, well i wish i had them now.

Im sorry my story unravells you but its true. I was a day out so condem me. More?

love to hear you stories

Paul i replied to this but i think you need a better reply. I truley think money isnt eveything. Comfort is happyness. A good life, woman, and children thats a life. I play stock for fun.
long term short term, im not rich, have no need of millions sure it would make things happen but then my G/F woundnt repect me for me.

So in the end my son is and always will be worth that loss.

BUT he pay's the train ticket
