WTF?

Strange things happening with Firefox on my main 'puter. All my bookmarks have disappeared and Firefox refuses to log me in to sites like ASF, and refuses to add any bookmarks... otherwise working fine.

I tried reinstalling and have run a virus scan, but still have the problem.

WTF is going on? other browsers working fine.

Cheers

Hey this happened to me once. I think it was after i did an active update?? Luckily I had backed my bookmarks up. Don't think its a virus but could be wrong.

It won't even let me add new bookmarks :cautious:

To top it off, one of my monitors won't work :banghead: Can they repair these or do you just ditch them?

A new version of Firefox became available only recently and I understand it is a very good release. I have it on and am happy with it.

Never had a problem with losing bookmarks with the previous version, but did lose all the url's on two occasions recently.

Thanks Hissho,

I tried to run that restore profile program, but getting an error message and "permission denied"

Is this in some sort of "safe mode" or something.

Firefox refuses to add any bookmarks!?

Try renaming the firefox bookmark store file

Close Firefox

Browse to
C:\Documents and Settings\Your Username\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\profile name

Rename the file named LocalStore.rdf to LocalStore.rdf.old

Then restart firefox and test.

Thanks Hissho & Simmo for the help  Got my profile back.

But something wierd is still happening.

I can log into ASF with my laptop using Firefox.

I can log into ASF on my main computer using IE.

I can log into any other site with Firefox

But it refuses to log into ASF with Firefox. This seems to be the only site it's happening to.

What the.....?

you are most welcome Wayne!

btw i've just sent you a private message and hopefully i could get some help from you :)

cheers

Hope someone can help me with this?

Anyone know the commands to delete all the addresses in the Address bar?
I know the one to do it individually (shift + del) but there was one to delete all the addresses but can't seem to remember what it is.

I just cleared private data and lost all my history :(

Thought I would re use this thread to keep all FF problems together.

My problem is that when I download an article from Comsec research Firefox downloads OK then SAVES it.

Previously it used to download and then OPEN it automatically.

I can't recall altering anything but there has been a some updates of late.

If I go to options I get the opportunity to select where it downloads to but can't find anywhere to select for "open"

Originally it was saving them all over my desktop, I have stopped that by directing them into a new folder, but I still have to manually open all downloads.

Any one know what to do?

Do you have any extensions, if not look for one called PDF Download which lets you choose whether to open or download

I have the most up to date version of FF and when i download something the little download box comes up showing the doc downloading, when it stops on the right hand side I can select OPEN or REMOVE. Not sure however how to make the little download manager box work. :banghead:

What are you wanting the box to do?

I have the same problem and would like to not use this functionality as documents open without doing anything with the "Download" dialogue box.
-- however FF will not open jpeg files directly and I must use the <open> function

In FF, what program do you use to open jpeg files?
-- currently using Windows Photo Gallery which opens my photo directory and not my file.

My FF was updated to the latest version yesterday

you can open .jpg files in firefox if you like right click on the file to see options either that or save to hard drive and open with Windows Photo Gallery.

The PDF download extension is here

As for the jpeg issue, maybe get a free program called Irfanview and you might need to associate the files with it.
However Firefox should open jpeg files anyway
