The problem with racism is discrimination against people because of their race. This is not fair.
Australians like to think of themselves as fair, as giving people a fair go. Racism is not fair. By discriminating against people because they have ethnic-sounding names then we are treating these people unfairly.

Yes, it is rampant; yes, it has been around forever; yes, people of other races do it; yes, it continues. None of this makes it right, or makes it fair.

Looks like Brett Lee might have some trouble finding a job after his cricket life.


And, with the exponential increase of white guys/Asian girls couples (in Sydney at least), some employers may, in the future, find some very Asian-looking applicants with a Western name.

I guess in the end, everything will even itself out. Besides, I'm sure that there are people of ethnic background involved in the recruitment process.
