IMO ESG will destroy the investing landscape.

Wayne has to be an April Fools joke surely.
How can a company producing cancer sticks have a rating above zero

Because it's BS. It's the reason all these companies are embracing all this gender and racial insanity. Its the reason they all promoting "yes" for the Australian apartheid. It's the reason they all toe the line on every Orwellian propaganda.

...they are being forced to.

e.g.

i was investing ( cash in the stock ) in AEF when ESG stood for Ethical , Sustainable and Governance , and did nicely in the stock

however that ESG definition has been hijacked , much like the retail investing scene

( i support ETHICALLY run businesses where i can , but try to avoid the new green-washing trend )

yes i grew concerned about Blackrock ideas and exited all the products of Blackrock i held ( the rivals i held were doing better anyway ) about 18 months back

It's pretty frightening. It seems to have become a costly box ticking exercise.

London Stock Exchange gives British American Tobacco an ESG score of 94—the third highest of any company on the exchange's top share index—while Tesla earns a middling 65.

This goes for most of this stuff.

It's not some genuine desire to fix a problem or even to simply given a honest assessment of a company. Rather, it's just a box to be ticked.

None of these ratings are worth anything at all in my view due to that.
And it is *beginning to backfire.

eg the Bud Lite and Target US fiascos.

Yes, lots of other examples and current trends that we can see will backfire.

Qantas saying male air stewards can wear girls uniforms is a classic. But, I suppose most of them want to anyway.

USA based but found this very interesting 20min Youtube clip by Zach De Gregorio from Wolves and Finances, re. Bud Lite et all.

How the ESG and CEI scores affect boardrooms and thus effecting markets.

Why doesn't it surprise me that Black Rock and other big money plus political parties are involved?

Makes you wonder what the investing landscape will look like in 10 years.
lacking in clarity and transparency if the current trend continues , i see definitions blur and modify ( after unpleasant facts )

might be interesting to see what attracts new capital outside of super contributions by then
