This is going to be a dirty campaign and it's started already -

http://www.abc.net.au/news/2012-06-14/labor-dirt-unit-unleashed-on-opposition/4070120

Gillard has honed her dirty tactics skills since knifing Kevin Rudd, thats was just an entrée

She will go as low as it needed to keep power and I think it's that attitude that will be her final undoing as the public can see through it.

whats good for the goose, is also good for the gander....the opposition could also compile a dirt file on ms gillard...its all out there on the net, starting from her union days at uni....through to her days at Slater and Gordon, and Bruce Williams, and the missing millions of AWU members funds, and a renovation to her house, with a wardrobe...
I heard there is an investigation into the Heiner affair, that implicates shredding of documents by one k rudd, and the governor general is implicated there
I think an election will be sooner than 2013....talk of her being dumped come june 30th 2012...or soon thereafter

Why would they go early to an election which they know they will lose?

Why would they go early to an election which they know they will lose?

I think there could be an election Oct/Nov. There is no upside for labor by waiting, by next year the effect of the carbon tax will have begun to really kick in. All the hand outs will have been spent, unemployment figures can't get better than at the moent.
I just can't see any point in labor waiting, public opinion isn't improving, so really they may take a bigger hit by waiting.
Historically they have a better chance of bad news arriving than good news. Also good news doesn't seem to help their position, while bad news seems to make it worse.
I think hasta la vista baby, is comming sooner than later.

Also from public opinion I have been hearing, it will be a once in a lifetime election result, which is a shame. There is nothing worse than having a government with no opposition.

If Labor can find some dirt on the Coalition members then this is a winning tactic and Labor should win the next election.

Why would they go early to an election which they know they will lose?

I still think one of the independants could bail, Wilkie isnt showing much backbone still supporting them, he must be furious over the Pokie backdown.

You should have posted that comment in the joke thread Dutchie.LOL
Who is going to announce the dirt? Craig Thompson.

Wilkie will never bail as he has no backbone at all and should not be a politician. Julia would be laughing herself silly about Wilkie.
He would probably be satisfied that he has done a good job if all the government ended up doing is issuing a statement "that people should not spend too much money on poker machines".

The way things are shaping up we will end up with a USA style government, every one will be finding dirt on each other and using that to their own advantage that is past this bill or I will tell about ????.
This will include the media with one Ph call to their boss from a high ranking Feds on either side and their jobs could be at risk.
You can imagine the power Gillard and Co could have with pulling add's etc.
making offers they can't refuse.
Good luck with that

If any of the indepedents wanted to be voted in next election, they'd pull the plug on the current government... Otherwise, I can't see them being voted back in. (Particularly Oakeshott)

:iagree:

However they will want to go to an election thinking they will win. So they have to improve their numbers.
I think Gillard believes that after the 1st July people will see that Abbott is incorrect and her ratings will improve.
However they have a number cruncher who got Boris Johnstone elected in London. He will be calculating how long it will take to improve the numbers, if in fact they do choose a new leader. Or they introduce something in an attempt to get the voters on their side.

I see the Libs have got a guy to roll Windsor.

Somewhere I read today that Adam Bandt may have a shot at being opposition leader after the next election.
But I was half asleep and cannot find it again to post.
The grub from Tasmania will hold in to the election. Then Labor will roll him for helping them.
joea

It's like Adolf Hitler trying to win the war from the bunker. It ain't going to happen.

Labor will only go early if they consider going full term will lead to a much worse outcome. What's worse than annihilation, I don't know. If internally, they suspect a serious economic downturn before the next scheduled election, the might be tempted.

I believe gillard will be dumped, and there will be an election this year....which labor will lose anyway.
Her own backbenchers are scared they will lose their jobs...but they are too weak, right now, to stand up to her...
they have no-one to replace her, except possibly Crean.
I think they brought in Carr, as their saviour, but he proved a flop..apparently they have approached Beattie, but he said no.
Some thought Smith was a nice guy...but he stuffed it as Defence Minister....
Looks like Rudd is their only hope.....
So it will have to be another thomson, slipper situation...to take the numbers out.
Where is the insider...to spill the goss.?

As I mentioned on another thread, Oakshot could be the linchpin, but will not do anything until August as that is when all his parliamentary entitlements keep in.

He could yet make himself a hero with his electorate and be relected at the next election.

The Labor Party has not learnt any lessons from Anna Bligh with her dirt file on Campbell Newman that is for sure.

I hope the Coalition does not lower themselves to Labor's level with this dirt file caper.

I say a prayer each night,

Dear God, Please keep Julia as our PM until Oakshott's entitlements kick in, in August, and he can make a long speech again, this time dumping on the muppet ALP government.

Amen.

gg

Maybe Miss Gillard is aware of what Oakshot might do?

Maybe we will have an election this year.

I don't want to be religious any longer than I have to.

Yes the more you weigh it up the more it seems likely.
No upside for labor hanging on, there is only storm clouds on the horizon.

I still think one of the independants could bail, Wilkie isnt showing much backbone still supporting them, he must be furious over the Pokie backdown.
Not so furious that he refused to accede to the watered down legislation which he said he'd never accept.
Moot now, anyway, because apparently the legislation won't get through. All that kerfuffle for nothing.

I'd have thought they would hold off in the hope their numbers get better because:
1. the carbon tax doesn't have the impact the opposition has suggested.
2. something dreadful befalls the opposition.
Let's remember that Ms Gillard has greater personal popularity than Mr Abbott. She (and the Party) may well be thinking if they can further boost her stakes, and discredit Mr Abbott more, time will see Labor gain some credibility, even if it's just to reduce the level of the bloodbath.

I see the Libs have got a guy to roll Windsor.
Wouldn't the proverbial drover's dog be able to roll Windsor, given his unpopularity in his own electorate?

Somewhere I read today that Adam Bandt may have a shot at being opposition leader after the next election.

Perhaps you were having a nightmare. It's hardly credible, is it? Bandt as a leader of anything???
I don't think so.

Our tax dollars at work. Hallelujah.

I hope the Coalition does not lower themselves to Labor's level with this dirt file caper.
I'd be very surprised if the Coalition doesn't have something similar happening.
Doubt that there's anything too novel about gathering dirt on your opponents.
Just especially stinks when it's being done with taxpayer funds.

OK put your hands up if you said this government would'nt last 6 months after the last election.

Put your other hand up if you said one of the independents would fold.........you are now all in the surrender position

The government will run full term barring a heat attack.

Labor are now not planing in wining the next election.

Labor's best chance of minimizing the damage at the next election is to allow Abbott and Co to blow up in their own good time and they will given their recent devious behavior.
