Do you take vitamin pills?

No, I don't take Vitamin Pills, why, because it's a complete waste of money, time and effort.
Depends on the type and quantity of vitamin. Excessive amounts of water soluble compounds will indeed be excreted. However, this does not apply to fat soluble compounds.

In his videos on Google Video, Dr Christopher explains how you body can accept something, but will not assimilate it unless it is organic. Anything that doesn't come from a plant is inorganic and can't be assimilated into your body.
If this were the case, we would never take antibiotics to successfully fight infection. That's just one example of the illogic of your statement.

Ideally, I'd like to think that because I eat a healthy diet, based largely on fruits, vegetables and fish rather than meat, I'm getting an adequate supply of nutrients. However, given that we don't know how long food has sat in supermarket coolstores, what agricultural practices have been employed in producing the food etc., I doubt that that's the case.

Still, I never get colds, flu etc.

Do take glucosamine which does seem to help joint flexibility.

For a Natural antibiotic, research Garlic, antibiotics wreck your intestinal flora and suppress your immune system.

I can only go off what I have done with my own body so far by using high quality herbal supplements(Organic or Wildcrafted) and changing the bulk of my diet to Organic Raw Fruit and Vegetables.

Things that have happened to my body since changing my diet to Organic Raw Fruit and Vegetables.

- I have ceased taking ALL Asthma medications after being dependant on them for 30 Years.
- I have stopped getting head aches of which I used to take Panadiene continuously.
- I have stocked taking acid reflux medications.
- I have 10% of my previous body weight
- I feel about 5 years younger

Hello, knock, knock, something is going on here, knock, knock, anyone in there...

Unfortunately, I think it's you people who don't know what they are talking about.

I take a lot of pills as several members of the family died quite young.
Here's my list each day: Soya Lecithin 1200mg, Bilberry and Lutein, Co-enzyme Q10 3 x 30mg, Green Tea extract 3 x 315mg, Glucosamin 2400mg, Chondrieten and MSM 2 x 400mg, iron tablet 14mg, Cod liver oil 2 x 200ml, calcium and Vitamin D 3 x 200mg, multivitamin and mineral tablet one-a-day, 75mg aspirin, marine oil capsule and garlic tablet, Ginkgo Biloba and Panax Ginseng, and Devils Claw (contains harpagoside, harpagide and procumbide, and glycosides) 510mg.

Is there anything I'm missing out on and should be taking?

Maybe a "chill" pill? Seems to be a little excessive! I'd think if you ate a well balanced diet and exercised regularly you will outlive the other members of your family that unfortunately died young.

....
Gingko does the opposite - it opens up blood vessels - particularly the smaller ones - hence the improved memory etc. So I would be interested to see how you go with Gingko, but for me - I had to stop.

Hmmmmmm. Thanks very much for the tip Roland, will definitely be looking into that today.

Cheers
AV

Well it has to be asked what crap had you been putting in your body before. :

"...Well balanced diet and exercised regularly...". What is a well balanced diet? What is ideal exercise? This may infact vary on where we live and changes moving from country to country. Most food that we eat is rubbish and I doubt that many people in Australia have a well balanced diet.

Those who live in climates such as Whyalla, live close to the sea and have 300 days of sunshine. No extra vitamin D needed here, others may be short of the vitamin. Those who live in the outback and suffer in the big dry, may well be short of vitamins. Many have, dropped the bundle, in these areas and need extra vitamins.

For anyone unsure about what a well balanced diet is and what is ideal exercise should talk with their GP. I agree with you that everyone's requirements are unique and do change and your GP is the best person to give you advice. Make sure your GP is a picture of health first and isn't 20kg overweight, drinks life a fish and smokes a pack a day

I don't know too many GP's who practice what they preach. Are you a GP by any chance?

LOL hell no. Far from it. It's not essential to get one that practices what they preach as long as they know what they should be doing and give that advice to
you.

I've had bad GP's and I've had good GP's. Find who is right for you. Don't take all you hear as gospel, research and apply.

Noirua, the maximum recommended dose of glucosamine is 1500mg per day.
You are taking nearly twice this much. From what I understand it is not a case of 'more is better' with glucosamine, or usually for that matter most drugs.

Also, if you're taking a multivitamin and mineral tablet once a day, do you really need all the other stuff?

I get a bit worried about the way many people think everything 'natural' is only beneficial, never harmful, and use large quantities of what can be purchased from a health food store (or even supermarket) without any qualified advice such as one hopefully gets from a doctor.

Most of these products can be sold without any definitive research to back up their claims. Glucosamine is an exception. There has been considerable research done to demonstrate its effectiveness and safety. Most orthopaedic surgeons and sports physiotherapists will happily recommend it.

If you haven't already done so, maybe it would be a good idea to discuss all these supplements with your doctor.

One of the most useful drugs ever developed is digitalis which comes from foxgloves. It can, however, be fatal in overdose.

If I ate the recommended daily serves of various foods then that would more than double my total food intake. I can't see that doing anything other than making me fat so I take a multi vitamin pill instead. Not sure if it's doing any good but I can't see it doing much harm.

I know someone who takes emu oil (think that's what it is) and it helped with their heart problems. Not sure of the research into that one but it helped them (so far at least, fingers crossed).

One anecdote about someone's heart problems 'being helped' by emu oil does not a scientific study make. What was the heart problem? How did the emu oil alter the problem? What did a cardiologist think of this improvement?
What long term studies have been done into emu oil in terms of efficacy in heart disease plus any likely long term side effects? etc etc.

There are countless very scientifically valid studies which have been done showing that placebos have created just as many improvements in subjects in controlled double blind studies as the active drug.

I'd be interested to know the basis on which emu oil (whatever that is, i.e. is the oil extracted from boiling down emus, the oil extracted from their skin/feathers or any other part of the animal?) acts on any aspect of cardiac disease.
