Take 1000 and add 40 to it. Now add another 1000 Now add 30 . Add another 1000 . Now add 20 . Now add another 1000 . Now add 10 . What is the total?

The instruction that came with this question said "do this in your head, do not use a calculator.

I reckon most here are going to get 5000 as an answer?

OK, then try doing what you have just done in your head on the calculator.
The answer is 4100.

What is happening here?

(PS I have no idea. Neither does the quite smart person who sent it to me).
How is this explained?

The answer is in the wording Julia .......

1000 + 40 = 1040

1040 + 1000 = 2040

2040 + 30 = 2070

2070 + 1000 = 3070

3070 + 20 = 3090

3090 + 1000 = 4090

4090 + 10 = 4100, right?

Same as 300 people crash and die on a plane ....... where do they bury the survivors?

Well, I can't believe I was so stupid. Many thanks for waking me up!

Put 71077345 in your Casio and turn it upside down and read.

I reckon Wayne Swann would get 1052 (with a calculator)

and therefore would run even faster to kill off my family trust.
