Hey Guys/girls (sorry Nelly, didn't realise!!),

Slightly melancholy mood...........News tonight of a second friend passing away (both within the last 3 weeks) Both a good few years older than me but sad just the same.............one was one of my old mans best friends!!...............Knew he was sick and meant to "see" him but too late!!.............Moral of the story ...........Don't neglect your family and friends................We all want to "do well" at the stock market, but when they finally "put you in a box", it really doesn't matter that much........................No sorrow required for me but lets celebrate what we think of our family and friends..................My wife is one in a million!!............I am a lucky man!! :engel: Cheers to all, Barney.

I'm one of the lucky ones too. and agree also... we all need a wake up call re friends etc

Sorry to hear about your friends Barney... it's always hard, no matter what your spiritual outlook.

Yes exactly...was speaking to a counselor one day and she said....fast forward your life and you will find that money means nothing, nothing at all!

Pity we need it everyday of our lives, so hence the reason it does somewhat control our lives.

Every "Man" shall die but not every "Man" shall live!

My wife died last month. I was sad. But now life must continue. I left the home as too many memories. I do not think I will return. be4tter to leave all that behind now and start a new life.I found a nice caravan park with wifi. my backpacker companions are enjoying the sceneray. I'm am relaxing and will make moneyy today on AEX and SBM. Life is good.

Hey Cog, pleased to see you are sounding happier atm.

Hey Wayne, I actually have some slightly different perspectives re "spititual outlook" etc.......( I respect all peoples "religions".......... if it helps them, then that is a good thing) I won't get into my concepts on "God" (unless anyone is interested?) , but it can make for some interesting discussion............Glad you have a nice wife.............Cheers Barney.

Thank you barney. there is a time for mourning and that is good, but we, as the living, must get on with life. Greiving too much just makes it bad for ourselves and those around us.

Hey ya Barney...I 2 respect everyones opinions on 'religion'.....[even if I think/know they r wrong] I'm a christian...have been 4 a little over a year. I can't answer lots of ?'s on theology, it's an 'it feels right' kinda thing, and a lot of people can say that about their particular beliefs so I just stick 2 what I believe. I love talkin about peoples own perspectives on this subject, some are fascinatin'....some people believe we r just a biological accident or that we r all soul-less......but I do know what is true for one is true for all...and I definitely have a soul.

Sorry you had a bad couple of days ......it would be nice if some one celebrated MY life when I kick the bucket.

Beautifully stated

As we grow up, we learn that even the one person that wasn't supposed to ever let you down probably will. You will have your heart broken probably more than once and it's harder every time. You'll break hearts too, so remember how it felt when yours was broken. You'll fight with your best friend. You'll blame a new love for things an old one did. You'll cry because time is passing too fast, and you'll eventually lose someone you love. So take too many pictures, laugh too much, and love like you've never been hurt because every sixty seconds you spend upset is a minute of happiness you'll never get back. So send this to all of your friends (and me) in the next 5 minutes and a miracle will happen tonight

Don't be afraid that your life will end, be afraid that it will never begin.
Just by coincidence my foster son sent the above email today.
I also have had friends and close ones die while I have been meaning to see them.Sometimes it is out of our control.I have learnt to make more use of my chances to keep in touch lately.
Also,it is surprising how quickly grief turns to memories, and something will come into your mind and give you a quick smile when you least expect it.
All the best Barney.
Brian

My deepest sympathies to you both Barney and Cogidubnus, I'm glad to hear of your quiet reflection and that you are managing to cope. It's heartening to see you all continuing with life and reminding us to treasure those we have around us.

All the best to everyone.

Well said Brian, it's amazing how difficult we can make life sometimes..

Brian,

Thank you for such a heartwarming post. Last year I suddenly had an overwhelming feeling that I should contact an old friend in NZ. I phoned but there was no answer. I decided it must be nothing and put the thought aside. A week later I had a call from his wife who said he had died the morning I thought about him. He had been taken into hospital about an hour before I phoned, hence no answer from the home phone.

So I guess I learned not to ignore these apparently baseless "feelings" and, even without them, to keep in touch with those we love regardless of where in the world they might be.

Barney, my sympathies. We learn from everything in life, even grief.

Lots of nice sentiments........thanks to everyone.........Its my old man I feel sorry for cause it was his best friend.......the old fella doesn't show a lot of emotion, but I reckon he was hurting! They could probably write a book on all the practical jokes these two played on each other over the years.........seriously funny stuff!......Old blokes never grow up.......they just get wrinkley! Barney.
