The Opposition in Qld has objected to the practice of a contraceptive implant being used with sexually active teenagers, down to the age of 12, in Woorabinda in Qld.
The government has defended the practice, saying it only happens when attempts at education and counselling of these children and their parents has failed. At that stage, they take the view that if sexual activity is going to occur anyway, it is best to prevent pregnancy.
Seems like a pragmatic and sensible approach to me.
What do you think?
Is it paving the way for underage children everywhere to consider they have tacit approval to become sexually active before the age of 16.
(Yes, I know they are anyway!)
