Anyone who has felt an inability to comprehend the life of a drug addict should read this novel.

The author is a recovered heroin addict and, writing in the first person, has written one of the most compelling books I've ever read. It is brutal, uncompromising, funny, sad, and above all, painfully honest.

The book was recently released as a movie starring Heath Ledger. Have you seen the movie Julia? A very graphic depiction of life as a drug addict.

I found it all a little depressing personally.

No, Bowser, haven't seen the movie. On the whole I prefer books, especially one as well written as this.

Depressing? Yes. There's nothing terribly jolly about being an addict.
