Today I received a lovely xmas card from CommSec, with 15 signatures inside, seemingly all signed with the same "process black" pen.

It goes on to thank me for being 'one of the few' (their inverted commas).

What on earth does 'one of the few' mean? Are they implying I was involved in the Battle of Britain, or referencing a little-known Pink Floyd song?

Do I put it next to the one from my accountant, or in the bin ?

They're saying "thank you for spending >$100k in brokerage this year. In return we'd like to offer you this card which cost us 5c, signed by our computer".

I think it's a lovely sentiment. I'd have it framed.

Have you tried putting the card in water, applying heat or dipping it in lemon juice? It may reveal the hidden message after 'one of the few'. Some possibilities include

- 'people who made money this year'
- 'investors who we report to the ATO/ASIC'
- 'idiots who trade with us despite our high fees'

Do I put it next to the one from my accountant, or in the bin ?

Don't forget to double check the accountant's card for the enclosed invoice for preparing the card.

Are you part of the "commsec One program"?

Last year they sent me a hamper with wine, chocolate, biscuits etc.

Haven't received anything this year though, not even a card, now I am feeling unloved, lol

Your name was pulled out of a hat to be 'one of the few' of their gazillion clients to receive said card.

*tongue still firmly planted in cheek* :D

Yep, You are a commsec one member I am guessing, I just went into the CommSec one part of the CommSec site and its says " your one of the few, welcome to CommSec one our exclusive program designed to recognise our most valuable clients"

Maybe my card is still in the post, I hope I get another hamper, lol

I got a card. It went straight to the recycle bin. What a waste of paper and energy.
An email would have been a nice enough of a gesture and would have cost a whole lot less.
